Hi all, I just wonder if anyone has had one of these grants & how long it took to get it all sorted.
My social worker said she was filling out the forms a few weeks ago & that i would have to be means tested.
Its for my stairlift.
I havent heard anything yet & thought i may have for the means testing.
Thanks debs

No, I can't help because I've never applied but I am of the opinion that it will take some time, anything to do with officialdom does. If you haven't heard anything after 6 - 8 weeks I would give them a nudge. Good luck with it all. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Debs,
I have no idea either but wanted to just agree if you don't hear anything get back to your social worker and see if they can help get it moving quicker. ((())) luv Cris xx0 -
Hi debs
Probably hasnt got far if it's means-tested and you've done no forms....??? amybe she can work it out though from the benefits you are on??
mIght just be a cse of giving her a abell at some point to see what's next?? When I was a SW ( ) it could take MONTHS to go through, but i would hope they are better at doing them now....we are at least into a new financial year so taht should help - theyw ill still ahve money in the budget

Hi, can help here, I got a grant for my low level shower, once you have seen the occupational therapist or social worker, she refers you to the council, and they send someone out from the finance dept to means test you, it is free if you get certain benefits, then you have to wait for the decision, then they get 3 quotes from various firms.
The upshot of it all is that it takes a long time, you just have to be patient and let them work at their speed love Jaspercatxx0 -
Hi,
I had one of these grants and it took about six months .
Hope yours is a bit quicker but these things usually take ages

Hi & thank you so much for your replies.
I see it will take along time.
I did bump into my social worker today when we were out shopping & she said she was swamped with paper work but it was getting done.
then i spend half n hour talking to someone i havent seen for ages that asked me what i'd done to myself  oh dear that took sometime as he couldn't hear me & thought i'd been in a fight.( Well i was known well for a good punch or chucking big blokes out from the pub..) He's only a young lad i know from the pub & he has brain damage from an accident only 19/20yrs old
Thanks again all & i hope your doing well.
