I have no idea whether a new pain every day is normal: it may be for you. What sort of arthritis do you have? You may have posted it elsewhere but I can't remember.

Regarding the interview, my advice is answer all questions honestly, explain how the pain affects you, explain what you can or cannot do. That's all you can do. Make a list today of the problems you face, take it with you and then it won't all go out of your head tomorrow. Good luck. Dreamdaisy

Hi nice to meet you. :D

good luck with the medical tomorrow. here is a link to the directgov website which explains the whys and wherefores of the medical.

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/disabledpeople/financialsupport/dg_10022605

hope the info helps a little. As DD said be prepared to explain how your disability affects you, and if it helps take someone in with you...as you do have the right to have a friend or rep with you during the consultation.

    don't minimise how you feel!!

    Hi TJC

I havent had to go for a medical but I expect you will be examined so i should wear trackies or something like that. Also take someone with you if you can who can support you and maybe say how it is for you if you forget something.

Did you keep a copy of the form you filled in? if you did I'd have quick look though it.

Be yourself - as you are - dont try to do things you cant and let them know if anything hurts you.

I tghink you can do a search at the top rt corner of this put inDLA medical and there may be old threads on just this subject.

    Love

    Hi there,
Don`t be worried it is really not too bad. I have been to a medical with someone to support them . The doctor asks the questions and you answer . Did you make a copy of your DLA form before you sent it ? If you did just have a look at it to see your answers as the medical will be based on those answers. The doctors are mainly retired GPs from what I have heard. I do not think there would be much point in an examination except maybe for a rudimentary one ie do you have any swelling redness or deformities you could point out.

Make a few notes for yourself to take to remind you of a typical day , what your pain levels are during the day and what you find difficult and why. Don`t underestimate your pain and disabilities .
Good luck and let us know how you get on

    Hi there,
Just a thought :id Watch out for questions like how did you get here today, they will want to find out about your walking ability. They will watch how long it takes for you to walk into the examination room to make sure it tallies with what you have put on your form.
    Good luck

Hi I don't know about dla, but I had an examination of sorts for my ESA medical. Nothing too bad though, but dont forget to say as soon as it hurts and don't struggle onto the table, as they wrote down that I could manage with ease, when in fact I had quite a job and stupidlly refused help. I also struggled into my coat although it was painful to do I managed, that was also noted down. So if something is difficult to do, ask for help, don't try and be independant!

    Good luck.

Let's hope you don't have to wait too long and that you receive the entitlements. It can all be a very stressful time, believe me, but, it sorts out in the end. XX Bubbles
