Hey Polly...you are not moaning...but in pain so entitled to say how you feel
sounds as though you are having a flare and need your meds reviewed....may be try to get an appointment at the docs tomorrow?
meantime hot and cold compresses or whetabags on the sore joints and a dose of whatever pain killers you have til then.
take care...hope you feel better soon.

See if your GP can help before you go to your appointment. I was on Co-Codamol and it wasn't touching the pain so my GP put me on Co-Dydramol, which she has put on repeat now for me (that was even before my official diagnosis of RA). That's working for me at the moment.
Best wishes

Hi Poly, No wonder your feeling so bad. I have lost to many people to cancer so my heart goes out to you. Being on your feet all day and the stress of your friends illness will have contributed to you having a flare. If you can rest so much the better. Hope the appt goes well for you. Don't forget your list of questions. Lv, Ix0

Hey Polly, such sad news about your friend. And a hectic time at work.
I truly believe that those two things together are more than enough to trigger a massive flare. You may get fed up of me banging on about emotional pain, manifesting itself physically, but I see it so often in my work, and it can be confusing. And it certainly happens for me too. At those times you need what I call "soft" time.....rest, applying the ice and heat and wheatbags that the others have recommended. I do so hope you can arrange with work to get some of this, and that your appointment brings some fresh thinking with regards to your pain relief.......Ange.0 -
thanks ange i do agree with u i notice i do feel more sore when stress or angry/upset. my boss knows my friend too so im hopin that i'll be given time 2 get over it. my friend was actually 40 years older than me and more like a family member as she looked after me a lot.0

Poor you, you are going thro the mill at the moment, aren't you? None of it helps the arthritis but all things pass and things will gradually improve.
You have the focus of your appointment - I recommend making notes of how you feel arthritis-wise, noting what you can and cannot do, how pain levels fluctuate, what coping strategies you have developed etc. When you're being seen all the things you want to say have a habit of vanishing - at least you can write it all down and use it as a script or just give it to the doc to read. Take someone with you for support too - they are good at picking up on points that you miss!
Take care of yourself. DreamdaisyHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
I'm sorry you're having such a tough time.
Have you tried parafin dips? Over here in the U.S. we can buy small home units at any department store. If you've never tried it, it's heavenly. Basically, parafin wax is melted at a low temperature. You dip your hand (or foot, or elbow etc.) into the wax several times to get a nice, thick, warm coating. Then you slip your hand into a plastic bag, wrap it in a thick towel to hold in the heat, and relax for a while. Once it's cool the wax peels right off without mess.
Also, you can probably find an electric heating pad that's specially made to use with a damp cloth or sponge (don't try this with a heating pad that isn't specifically for this purpose! you could get a shock). Same principle as the wax dip - you wet the cloth or sponge, slip it inside the special sleeve, and apply to the sore area. You might want to put a layer of wash cloth or towel between it and your skin, and make sure it's not too hot. The damp heat penetrates and is very soothing.polly1985 wrote:i got my appointment in so its on the 27th may. cant wait as i am in so much pain. had a very hectic weekend at work and i think it has taken its toll. my feet are sooo sore i can barely put up with walking, i didnt think i would be able 2 continue putting out the medications at work as my hands were so sore and stiff. my back is aching and my whole legs feel so heavy, dont no what to do 2 get any relief ??? any ideas or suggestions welcome.
