Hi folks

Just a quick message to say I was discharged last night . The op eration went well,l had a few problems afterwrds becaseu of my RA. butnothing serious. I am recovering at my sister's and enjoying being looked after.

My leg is quite swollen and painful but tolerable. I am able to go upstairs and downstairs without too many problems (using one crutch and the bannister and leaving a 2nd crutch at the top of the stairs). I am tired, but that's to be expected as I didn't sleep before I went in and I didn't sleep whlst I was in either!

the hospital was excellent in all respects and I wouldn't hestitate to go there again..

I am doing my exercises as prescribed and am having injections of a blood thinner for the next 23 days to prevent DVT.

Will tell yo more about it next time I log on - I need to go to bed now and have a little rest!!

Best wishes

Marion x

    Hi folks

Thanks for all your good wishes..

I'm 10 days post op now and just starting to 'pick up' nicely ,, the new hip is settling down well, but I hadn't anticipated how much the whole expereince would take out of me - I had low blood pressure 1 day post op and then had a blood transfusion and high temperature 2 days post op and then had raised liver enzymes (possibly anaesthetic or poss methotrexate) and had difficulty getting the pain controlled from day 3!

Anyway, onwards and upwards now I think. my leg is still very swollen and I am resting in bed 4 times a day to try and reduce the swellling, but I am feeling much stronger..

Have had to stop my methotrex pending further blood tests next week, so am a bit worried about having an RA flare up..

Sorry this message is all about me! Will be catching up on other topics when I go home on Thursdy and will be in touch again then...

    Speedalong - glad to
see you are OK and looking forwrad to hearing all about it...

    Best wishes

Hello Marion. I'm glad to hear that you are recuperating well - surgery of any sort is taxing on the body and what you have had done is fairly major. I think that because they get you up and about so quickly that tends to lessen one's view of the seriousness of what has been done to one! You keep resting and doing the exercises - that is what is important now.

Regarding the 'selfishness' of your post - don't be a silly billy! It's a big thing to go through and you need some 'me time'. You can start thinking about the rest of us later - get yourself better first!

    Here's to continued improvement. Dreamdaisy
