Hi all decided to take up astronomy after a 42 year hiatus  Anyway having problems with my neck and spine just wondering if there are any members here with a similar interest and problem and what equipment do they use (i can imagine using a finderscope awkward with little neck movement for instance.)
At the moment a 10" goto dobsonian is a possiblity but they are not exactly cheap there again should i get something cheaper to test the waters so to speak?

    Hi

I look at the Hubble's downloads it is a spectacular seeing all those stars and seeing new ones being born.

    I find it very interesting.

I know nothing about astronomy and telescopes but many moons ago (ha-ha) I went on a trip to the London Planetarium (and then snuck in to Madame Tussauds next door for free via a staff entrance!) and I'm sure I remember lying back in the seat, the better to observe the dome. Would a recliner help in any way? (If this suggestion is too feeble to be true I apologise!) Dreamdaisy

Good question fester, have a look at the sky at night web site i would imagine they will tell you what is the best scope to get and general kit you should go for, I have thought about taking it up but I just use the web for most of it as I haven't got the kind of cash I would need to get a really good scope, and size is everthing in that game, well that and really good quality lenses that is.
I know you can make your own but it's still going to cost a fair bit.
Personaly I'm interested in super nova pulsars and other exotic space objects so a scope isn't much use for looking at them with anyway.
