The Busy Month of May

Hello everyone
Well, the weather is turning and this weekend is supposed to be lovely, apparently. How are you all doing under this new dodgy "government"?
I just thought I'd give you a quick update in the goings on in the Kang household.
This weekend, we are all flying over to Frankfurt because it is my hubby's neice's 18th birthday party. We wouldn't miss it for the world, it's going to be a huge event with family and friends coming from all over. We fly out from Heathrow at 6:30 tomorrow morning (we have to leave our house at 2am - the flights were half the price of the ones leaving from Birmingham, for that saving, you get up in the middle of the night!) and fly back Sunday evening in time for an early night and the girls to go to school the next day and for us to go back to work. We're really looking forward to it. I'll be posting the photos on my FB account.
Then the weekend after, I have been given a place on a therapy course with the Firefighters Charity. They will give me all sorts of tips and advice on coping with RA and being a caeliac. I feel very lucky - it's based in Penrith, is highly recommended and it's FREE. It's for two weeks and all my days will be planned out for me - I have been asked to pack comfortable clothing and walking boots
So that will take me right up to Friday 4th June when I get the train back to my loved ones. In between all this, I am trying to organise our office move. Our old fire station is being pulled down and while a new one is built, we are moving. Trying to get men to pack anything beforehand is a job in itself! We were supposed to be moving today but, after finding out I was going to be away soon, one of the senior managers decided to put it back until I got back from Penrith. Which was SO good of them
So that's my month of May sorted. I still haven't had Joan and her hubby over like I promised to back last December. So I am writing this for all to see: WHEN I GET BACK, THEY ARE COMING OVER FOR DINNER IN JUNE!
See you all soon

Hi Toni
I'm sure we'll be OK, we're looking forward to this party too much for it not to be. I'm lucky my girls are that bit older and they are generally good when we take them to places. We've taught them to express themselves rather than whine - for instance, instead of crying, they will turn to us and say "I'm really tired" or "I'm really bored" and we have a chat about how we're all feeling that way. I know, we are very lucky!
I think a lot of fire stations are scheduled to be rebuilt because the fire and rescue services got worried that if they didn't put in their budget requests, a new government wouldn't allow it :-) Also, a lot of the stations up and down the country now don't fully comply with disability legislation etc, so they have to be rebuilt.
I hope you have a good weekend too. I have a lot of sorting out to do this afternoon, I'm glad I took the afternoon off work to do it all!
I bring it all on myself really... I'm looking forward to Penrith.

Hi Nina
Well I hope YOU have a lovely time all of you
I will too I'm sure
Good idea to rebuild the stations quickly - I think they were wise.
Thanks

Hi Nina
I think I need to have a lie down after reading that!! You never have a dull moment, do you?
I hope you will all have a super time in Germany, and also that you enjoy your course. It sounds very interesting, so you must tell us all about it when you return. I guess that the office move was put on hold because they know that they need you there to organise them all!
Have a great time!!

Hello All
We had a brilliant time and didn't get stuck in Germany because of the volcanic ash, which was a good thing. The girls are very tired, as are we, but we wouldn't have missed the party for the world.
The only downside was having to tell my hubby off for being grumpy because he was tired - honestly, he's worse than the girls sometimes. We had a bit of an argument before we went to bed because I lost patience with him not helping me with the girls. Yes, he did all the driving to and from the airport, yes, he was very tired, but so was I and I had to sort out the girls on my own! What is it with men sometimes? They can't see past themselves, can they?
But we had a good time, that's the main thing. I took lots of photos, and I left my camera on a table so there's quite a few there which I don't recognise :-) But at least there's no rude ones. I also had a go at taking some videos, but they didn't turn out that well because it was dark when the dancing started. Our two youngest were very tired by 11pm but the owners of the restaurant where the party was held are friends of the family and they put the girls to bed in the flat above the restaurant and kept an eye on them for us so we could enjoy the party.
Hope you all had a good weekend? I hear the weather was nice in England - it was a bit miserable over there!

I'm glad you had a good time and the ash didn't disrupt anything. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Nina
Glad to hear that you had a good time, and also that your flight back wasn't cancelled. It's fortunate that you went from Heathrow instead of Birmingham, as I believe that airport was closed.
I hope that marital harmony has been restored ( I'm sure it has :!: ) Just tell Sunny that you are not nagging him, but simply advising him :!:
Now you have your course in Penrith to look froward to, lucky girl :!:
