If your router was supplied by your ISP, as noted by Lynn above, then she has made a good suggestion to contact them for help first. But check on the cost of calling their helpdesk as it can be very, very costly in some cases.
The following may also help:
When you press the button on the router, it either causes the router to be discoverable OR restarts the router, which restarts in discoverable mode for a limited time and the PC can 'discover' it and then they connect.
Some routers are, for security reasons, normally in a non-discoverable mode. Pressing a button on them will make them discoverable for a limited time and you have to connect during that limited time. The router will then stay connected to your PC until you turn your PC off and then the router reverts back to being non-discoverable. That's how that secure type should be used.
If the button turns the router off/on, for now, if you can connect and stay connected, (until you turn your computer off), by switching the router off and then back on again after waiting about 15 seconds, then it is probably best to do that rather than alter any settings yourself that may put you totally offline. Then it needs to be reset by your ISP helpdesk or checked in situ by someone who can set up your computer/router WiFi settings properly.
