Well guys wish me luck got to go see a kneecap specialist for a 2nd opinion before the surgeon writes his final report to my works OC health Doctor, this is the last chance I have before I get the elbow by HR and my line manager, also have been told that a few on my old shift think I should have been sacked a long time back as I’m swinging the lead, friends eh, really get me down when that happens, haven’t got the balls to say it to my face the Tommy tankers. The crazy thing is one of them is the laziest ar%*les we have, empathy eh who needs it.

thanks guys only a hour or two to go now butterflies are starting, I hope he's not one of those I'll tell you what's wrong with you types, you know the ones talks to you as if your as important as a slug, I normally get these ones but here's hoping!. Reality is this is the last chance I have of getting it through to them at work that my OA is that painful when it flares, god it's been a long hard road one I never imagined I would have ever have to walk just a few years ago, when I think of all the things it's taken from me I get really low, but it's not that which really gets me but the total dismissive and frankly uncaring attitude of others around me, at work and in my social group, I've had some really strong negative even mocking remarks from those close to me, so that's one reason I don't go out these days it's not worth it, let them have their little drinking club they can shove it up their ****'s for all I care.
Sorry to go on I'm on a bit of a downer today, as normal knees aren't to bad, why is it I never have a flare when I need to see these people?. :?0 -
Hi Mellman, hope it went well for you today. I too have stopped going out, sick of sarcastic comments and a lack of understanding of what I'm going through.
Your work and HR sound as bad as mine. I'm still waiting for my letter saying I've been sacked.
Julie((((hugs)))) n xxxxx to ya all0 -

sorry i am late to this fingers were crossed how did it go or have they not told you.
they should be ashamed of them selves, there only one or two at work who i tell the truth to the others would never understand and would think i making it up as one pal says you can not see pain he the one gives me lift home when things bad bless him some friends are true through and through.
good luck hope things work out for the best for youval0 -
i agree here, you cant see pain, recently in out local paper was a letter from someone whom had terminal cancer, whilst using his blue badge he had someone shout at him "where's your disabilty" absolutly disgusting, until you have suffered yourself i dont think you can really understand has anone done studies into the affects of long term pain
but i am a bit worried about mell not posting, seems too ominous0 -
hope it goes well, let us know.
p.s. can you help someone on living with arthritis forum, the thread is called protocol, take care.0 -

I don't know what to say to help you mell. Thinking of you.
It is a lonely life I know.
Please take care of yourself0 -
Well what can I say, no one seems to understand why even with advanced OA of both patella why I get flare pain, so I've been to 3 specialists and even had a scan on my spine at my request nothing there but my neck looks a mess due to the cervical spondylosis, but I still get the same old flares now and then, god it does my head in, I have now been pulled in by HR the first time in 18 months and was told it's ill health retirement or incapability for yours truly no "can we help you" crap just "sorry you have taken to much sick so that's it mate so I want to go straight to stage two is that OK with you!?"!, C****t I'm only 2 years away from redundancy but it looks like I wont even make that.
Anyway as it stands I am waiting for the surgeon to write a report on my illness and what can be done if anything that's been 3 months now and still no word, the union seem laid back about things but have said to HR if it goes to stage 2 disciplinary they will get a full time official involved but I'm not sure this will be much help, I fear I am screwed and the DDA's s are as much use as a chocolate flippin T pot. Angry doesn't come close.0 -
I am so sorry mell. It will all be resolved somehow because it has to be, but I fear you are in for a stressful time, which won't help your health. I can't help in any way, but I am sorry about the situation. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi mellman
I was forced into leaving my job in march too & know how you feel. I've got to say, though, it would have been impossible in my situation to have continued with it & it would also have been impossible for DDAs to have been implemented too. My company was huge & I was lucky enough to have been on pay up until SSP ran out. My manager was not very up on things & made a few mistakes during the process & in the end, the advice line I called (Disability Law) said if I didn't resign I would end up having to be dismissed via incapability & was not good for my CV so I resigned.
Now however I have been deemed as having limited capability for work by ATOS so swings & roundabouts really. AGH! Scary, isn't it?
Do go along with the union ideas though - I wasn't in one of those & they, once you give them goahead should be big help. These companies are only in for their money really & are obviously hoping to avoid paying you that redundancy. Hold on as long as you can though, hon - you deserve it.0
