Im back to work now and feeling worse because of this! My wrists are sore now also my elbows and ankles and one of my knees what is causing this? Ive OA in my spine and im a care assistant but ive cut my hours down quite alot. Theres no point going to my doctor about the new pains as she cut all my meds down and is useless . I get more info and help on here.

The first instinct is to say change doctors. My GP wasted three years of possible treatment because she told me that my fat knee would go away of its own accord. Nice lady, rubbish doc.
Do you attend the rheumatology dept of your local hospital? I think most run a helpline service, so contact them or, if you don't, see if you can get a referral to them, either via your current GP or your new one. Don't sit and wait for things to improve - we have to be proactive and chase things, and people, up. It's a bore, I know, but we are part of a rapidly-expanding section of the general community and sometimes we have to be in people's faces (a truly ugly turn of phrase but I'm tired - my vocabulary is going!) I agree with DD on this. You must get your dr to listen or change your Doctor.
Your in pain and need some answers and help.

It certainly sounds like you need to see someone as it will only be you that suffers more in the end. Can't you see another gp in the surgery? I do not know how long you have been off work, but on going back, with the kind of work that you do, you are bound to find it difficult even though you have cut your hours. Do you have any splints for your hands? Wearing a tubigrip on your knee may help. The only person who can prescribe meds is someone in the medical world. I would not think that anything bought over the counter will help you.
I hope you can get to see a medic soon.

I feel really sore today always worse in morning. Ive work tonight so im going to have to take my pain killers before i go in, im on co codamol 30/500 and i top up with ibrophen, i was on tramadol but doc stopped itMargaret0 -
I too am on co-codamol 30/500 but don't mix it with ibuprophen due to asthma and interraction with other meds. I have tramadol 50mg for night use as they knock me out! What arthritis meds do you take, dosage and for how long have you been on them? You may need a review of treatment. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

If I remember correctly you have OA of the lower back. Surely you should be seeing a rheumatologist, it's an arthritis and that's what they specialise in. I would push for a referral because I am sure there are meds that can be more helpful that GPs cannot prescribe. You can but try - it may be the answer you need. Hi DD and Margaret
I believe some people on here see a rheumi if they have OA but on the whole you only see them if you have RA.If you are diagnosed with OA you are usually "looked after" by your GP or consultant if referred. You can be referred to physio too if gp thinks that may help. Is it OA you have, Margaret?

Thanks Elna, I never realised that. That does strike me as being odd, but then many things do, whether they are odd or not! Thank you for the enlightenment. DreamdaisyHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
