Ye gods I have found a place here in the lakes that is almost as bad as Fishguard, it's Mollom or something like that I'd say it has got to be the boil on the bum of the lake district, they want to build a nuclear power station there and I'm all for that it's the only thing that will enhance the place, there is a lovely sandy bay but even that has it's down side as when the tides out it honks!, there is an SSI site but it's on a spoil heap from the defuncked iron works, it's basically industrial spoilings and dog pooh with just a hint of general urban detritus for colour.
Yep it's surelyhas got to be the boil on the **** of the lake district and no mistake, everything is a mess, the council estate that infests one part of the dump is an A typical inner city hell hole design resplendent with old scrap cars dog pooh and the odd glue sniffer, I do hope when they build the nuke station they have good security coz if they don't the first thing that will happen is all the copper will be gone in a flash only to be replaced with glue tubes and loads of dog fud.
Right it's raining here so it's time for another cup of T I guess!.

Hi DD right next to Lake Windermere, the place is actually called Millom as delboy say's, it's sad place even the wildlife has abandoned it!, it's odd as the view inland is stunning you have all the mountains and hill to view in an incredible vista but the place itself is a real armpit. It's a bit like shameless meets Emerdale but set in Beirut during civil war.0

Hey, what a wonderful place it sounds! I've been to some horrors but not quite like this one. Is it s'posed to be a holiday? I might be inclined to pack my bags and come straight home again (which I have been know to do on a couple of occasions). Am I right in thinking that it's you who lives near glorious Didcot? Tilly x0

Hi Mell
I just looked up Millom on a tourist guide site to the Lake District, and it said this:
Those who wish to wander off the beaten tourist track could do worse than pay a visit to Millom. One of Britain's most celebrated poets of recent times, Norman Nicholson, chose to spend his entire life in the town, this I think, tells you that it must be worthy of a closer look.
A less popular destination for a day out certainly, but never the less Millom and the surrounding area should be placed on your schedule when planning your holiday in Cumbria and the Lake District.
I have been to most places in the Lake District, but never to Millom. It certainly doesn't sound 'worthy of a closer look' from what you said about it. Maybe it was nice once, and has gone downhill in recent years. What a shame in such a beautiful area.
I hope Ozzy is OK now, and that you are having a good holiday.0 -
