Off to see the consultant today to see what he says about the TKR he did for me in march that is 25 degrees out!

I think I will give him a hard time over it!

All the best today, Zec, just seen your posting. You will have the upper hand in the conversation, no doubt. I am wondering how he will be explaining/wriggling out of this gross negligence on your leg from when you went in for the operation and up to now.

    Please accept a gentle hug

Just keep peppering your conversation with the word "litigation", Zec, and you should get five star treatment.

I wish you all the luck in the world.........Ange.

    SAW HIM!

he sat me on the edge of the bed thing and said it all looks straight, I showed him how hen I stand and bend the knee that the knee doesn't go straight over the foot, he acknowledged that but still thinks it is ok?

He said it is still full of fluid, he is concerned about the foot pain, he will see me in 4 weeks to review!

I am confused, I and my family can see it isnt straight, but it is so hard to discuss with these people, they try to baffle you with medical knowledge, I am not happy but I think he is?

Why would there be fluid? He didn't Castrol GTX you did he? I think you have been too polite! Take care over the next month, don't force things. Ask someone to take a picture of the offending knee at its offending angle. It just doesn't sound right to me, but then I'm not an orthopaedic surgeon. This must be very frustrating for you. Dear Zec

I am confused too. After a TKR the leg is most definitely straight. My surgeon told me it would be, because I asked him, before both ops. Even if there is still fluid?/swelling on the knee, the leg will still be straight on standing after the operation. I really do feel for you big time. I would be writing a letter to him, requesting a reply to get this all in writing.

    Hi

This doesn't sound right at all. Did they do another x ray?

What did they suggest regarding getting rid of the fluid?

    Take care.

It sounds very frustrating with you. Have you seen your GP to ask for another opinion?

Being of an inquisitive nature especially where knee ops are concerned, I did some googling. You can unfortunately get fluid on the knee after a TKR and it can be drained and this can be reoccurring sometimes. This still does not explain to me, why the leg is not straight now.

    Hi Zech,

Did they x-ray the leg again? I would ask for a second opinion on the x-rays. Is it very swollen? Is it unevenly swollen?.

I need to say something - please don't take this wrong the way - but I work with children with special needs and some medics seem to think because they have learning dificulties or physical disabilities - second best will do. I'm often fed up of fighting the fob of "it's part of his/her condition ..." when I know for a fact it isn't ... what I'm trying to say/ask is - do you think the surgeon thinks it is ok because you are in a wheelchair??? - There I've said it.

Have you been back to the physio?

Are you still in a lot of pain?

The whole situation is a total nightmare, I wish we could all do more to help ...

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    You think Zech

that he is not really happy but bluffing for now in the hope it will 'go down' and be ok in four weeks?

Who did you take with you?

    take serious backup next time.

    Love and hugs

The surgeon is probably giving himself time to disapper from that hospital.

It is difficult to argue with a surgeon if he says all is ok. You can ask them to explain to you in words that you understand and not medical jargon, why the leg is no longer straight since the operation, especially if it was before. My leg was not straight before the op, so I could not argue that one. But as I asked my surgeon before each op if the leg would be straight afterwards and the answer was yes, then I would have most definitely wanted many more answers from him.

What happens now, in the interim, do you go back to physio, continue with exercises or what?
