concrete floor meeting

ow ow ow today was not the best day
dashed into ikea today just to pick up a spare potty for my toddler, left with an imprint of the concrete floor all down my right side.
Slipped on something on the floor and went flying no chance of catching myself only managed to save my face
crunch went my arthritic knee, hip, elbow, shoulder and wrist
now in terrible pain and covered in bruises and slightly less skin, ha well at least i have something but the RA to blame the hurt for this time although i'm going to pay for it tomorrow
Am I the only one who wouldn't contemplate going for compensation....within seconds of falling people we're telling me 'where theres blame theres a claim', I hadn't even managed to get back on my feet!!! (ok this actually took quite a lot of time and a good looking first aider but thats not the point) Is it an old fashioned notion just to think its one of those things or am i being naive?

Ooooh, that sounds soooo painful, both now and tomorrow! Hope you are soon recovered.
I don't think that compensation would enter my head..........I just tend to take whatever happens as it happens.........you might be able to claim on your own insurance, though.

A guy filled it in for me and got me to check it through as i've busted my wrist pretty badly and they had to get a first aider etc to check me out before they'd let me leave get back in my car
I was more bothered about them cleaning the floor so no-one else slipped and astounded that I hadn't broken anything after years of steroids I'm always worried about brittle bones :roll:0 -

I don't want to claim, i'm just astounded how many people automatically think I would

that the trouble with the world these days it claim before they even know who at fault i do not like claiming for an accident. if it something that should never have happened then it might be different but not for a fall that we all do from time to time. sorry you will be in pain tomorrow hoping it not as bad as you feel it might be. valval0

Hi Chrissie,
I really hope your ok and not too battered and bruised?
I don't think t sue and agree accident do just happen..... now a days it seems there are no accidents and we do tend to have a sue culture but I think your right really. A ((( ))) and a hope you soon feel less sore. Cris x0 -
Last year I was in a supermarket and some sun loungers fell on me from the shelf and people were saying the same thing to me, not are you okay like you I wouldn't think of sueing it was just an accedent. Do hope you are not in too much pain.

Hi Chrissie
I hope you are feeling a bit better today. It must have been the for falling yesterday, I fell over too. Just got out of my car and fell, I was at the library. As you say it was an accident that's all.

Dear me Chrissie. This is a great fear of mine. The amount of pain we suffer from a fall is magnified and can be very severe so I must say I hope you are not damaged in any way. This could lead to all sorts of injuries- where others could get a bruise and pick themelves up we would have intense pain for ages or exacerbate a joint problem and not recover for years.
Get yourself better first. Let us know how you get on please.

You poor thing! The thing we all dread, and on such an unforgiving surface. I sincerely hope the damage is not too extensive but I guess you will be feeling very sore and uncomfortable.
I wouldn't go down the American way on this: I doubt I'd go that way on anything! Accidents do happen, things do get spilled or rubbish dropped and down we go, but it is just one of those things. The litigation culture is horrendous.
Please take it easy today, as much as you can, and give things a chance to settle. I hope you were able to get some sleep of some quality. DreamdaisyHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
thanks everybody for your good wishes
after a rubbish nights sleep where I kept waking myself up by rolling over onto my bruises & the sheet stuck to my grazed knee & elbow I do feel like I've done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson! 8)
3 cheers for the icepacks tho as my knee is still actually working, the same cant be said for my shoulder & my wrist doesn't feel quite right but as I'm used to bits of me not behaving i'm sure i can live with it and it does give me the excuse to get somebody else to make my coffee.

Hi Chrissie. I think we all live in a society that always has to blame somebody. Accidents happen, such is life. I hope you are not badly hurt and the bruises heal quickly. Britain is becoming "americanised" most people who have an accident want to blame somebody. My 17 year old daughter and I were chatting about primary school and I was telling her about when my first primary school was closed because they had built a brand new one. I was about 7 yet we were all given a box to put all our things in and then we were marched down the main street to the new school to deliver the box to our new classroom. We then went back and carried our desks the same way, to the new school. Now-a-days there would be hell to pay if this type of thing was even mentioned. Hope you feel better soon.
Regards

Hi Chrissie,
Oh that was a bad fall. Do hope you are feeling a little better. As others have said please try and give yourself a bit of time to get over this.
Sending very gentle hugs.

Ha I wish I could but my toddler has come down with a bug and is currently clamped to my side even though its agony to pick him up
I did think at least for once I don't have to explain why I'm sore and grumpy as the black and blue bruises give it away.
I'm writing this week off as a bad one and going with positive thinking that by Monday morning my aches will have died down, bruises faded and my little boy back to his happy self...go Monday yay0 -
