My mtx tablets look funny - have they changed shape?

Hi

Just had my prescription filled by a diff chemist and my mtx tablets are bigger and look sort of puckered (like they are heat damaged?). The pharmacist tells me it is just a different brand but I'm nervous...should I get them changed to the usual looking ones. It will be a bit hassle but maybe worth it?

    Hi

I had this happen to me once, the tablets weren't stamped with the 2.5 on the back and there was no M stamped on the front, so I went back to the chemist to query it, she did assure me that they were just a different brand, but I said I wasn't happy I asked her how could I tell if they were even methotrexate so she did order in a fresh batch but she wasn't very happy about it. The next batch were just like all my other tablets were so I was happy. Might be worth going back

    Regards

Hi Kit if you are worried you could ring your rheumy nurse and ask them if they are the right ones.

My pharmacy does this from time to time, I think del is right, it's something to do with using different generics. I always check the information sheet about markings and such stuff - if everything seems OK I take them. I haven't had any problems so far, but if you are uneasy then check. It's better to put your mind at rest rather than fretting. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Kit
I too have had different shaped and diff boxed tabs on lots of occasions (not metho though) and my Diclofenac is different nearly every time. Like the others have said I think the GPs switch brands to whatever is cheapest at the time - bit like buying Tesco "Value" or Waitrose "Essentials" ranges I guess. But I did see a programme on TV recently about fake drugs very occasionally getting into the NHS pharmacy system so if you are still not happy it would be worth checking again because it's obviosly not something you want to be messing about with. The other thing you could do is show them to your regular pharmacist for his opinion. I know you didn't get them from him but, if he's worth his salt, I'm sure he would advise you. Good luck,

    Love Tilly x
