Going to my 1st AC group

Tomorrow I am going for the 1st time to my local AC help group. It is a group held once a month where peeps meet up and enjoy each others company, there's normally a speaker on as well. So while I am apprehensive, I am looking forward to it as well.

I don't get out much and I will feel safe being there. I can hobble around as much as I want and not have people staring at me as when I go out with my hubby.

    are you coming then tomorrow? I live in Stafford but it's only a little drive on the a34 for me. I have my treatment too at Cannock, I see DR Mulherin, what about yourself?

    How about that then? Us living a few miles away from each other!!!!

    I havent ever been :shock: you will have to let me know if it is any good and if there is anyone from here there :shock: I am a bit shy of groups of people.... so I will see hwo you get on - anyway my husband would kill em as he has finished work aerly so we can go out tonight :D

    I go to My Al araf in wolverhampton

    It had a shorter list at the time and I was desperate :wink:

    I'm sure you'll enjoy it....I'm a member of one in the North East and like you say you can hobble about LOL everyone is in the same boat...Thats what I like about their outings.....all are geared towards arthur
    My meeting is this monday......Must remember I've got to take a load of info to have my crb done...I'm a volunteer and am training to take courses so have to have a police check

    I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Obviously I'm at a different one but I say....GO....its a good night being able to chat to people who are in the same positiopn as you......you'll get loads of advice as well {same as on here} Mine is on Monday....cant remember who {if anyone} is speaking or is it just a casual night

    Hi all

    yes I did go. The majority of the peeps were pensioners but there were about 4 of us who were around my age (38) so I sat with them. The chairperson, commitee members gave me a very warm welcome. I will go again as I think you need to go a few times to get a flavour of how it is. I did pick up one good for sleepless nights, take a nintendo to bed to play. It takes your mind off the pain.

    If I could I would come up her as we don't have one in the Dutchy and have to go to Devon :roll: We did think about starting one but all the groups started here fail to keep gong cus of the distances we would all have to travel....... Its a shame but its too many miles really.

    Glad your going to keep going and well Toni maybe you would enjoy it as well? Give it a bit of time Jaine an I hope ti will be good for you. Cris x

    Hello Janie.
    So glad you went to the meeting, I live in Cardiff and we have started a A/C group that meets once a month.
    Its a lovely group , nice peeps , and we are all in the same boat. Thats the nice thing, we all suffer in the same way and we all understand how each other are feeling.
    It would be good if more of these groups could be set up around the country !

    Have you gone to the front page and checked the list of arthritis groups? There seem to be quitee a few.....there are 2 I could get to {driving} about 7 or 8 miles....the reason I chose the one I go to is because it's in a civic center and has great parking facilities whereas the other one is in a built up area where you have to search for a parking place
