James Bond....who's best?

As we're mostly of a certain age on here, I was talking the other day about who we thought would've made an ideal James Bond.
Thinking about actors from the 40's 50's 60;s who do you think would've been a good Bond.
Errol Flynn
James Mason
My choice would be Cary Grant.
Any others?

My mind (and other parts) are boggling. Still racking my brains but so far there is no better contender than Errol Flynn. That man could swash as well as buckle. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Does anyone remember William Franklyn, he who did the Schweppes ads? He was tall with a deep voice. I bet he'd have been good too.0
