Hello everyone
I'm slowly reading through the posts I've missed but please forgive me if I've missed any to reply to, there's a lot to catch up on! I've been away for two weeks in Penrith, I was lucky enough to be offered a place on this course as therapy for my arthritis.
What I didn't realise was that when the literature said to pack waterproof clothing, swimwear and walking shoes, that we would need these every day! From 8:45 in the morning till 6pm, we were kept busy. Here's an example of one of the days:
8:45am - aerobics class (this was quite good fun, dancing along to "It's Raining Men" with burly firemen)
9:15am - 4 mile walk both uphill and downhill in beautiful countryside
10:15am - tea break
10:30am - two hour pool session, with option for jacuzzi or sauna AFTER exercises in the pool
12:30 - Lunch
13:30 - Lecture on nutrition
14:30 - Fitness room on cardio machines
15:30 - tea break
16:00 - gym session in which the physios gave us exercises tailored to us
17:00 - relaxation class
18:00 - dinner
Honestly, that was a normal day. They're bonkers, all the staff. One wet day, they still had us going on the walk and when I got back even my KNICKERS were wet. We were in the pool twice that morning, I didn't get dry till lunchtime.
But do you know what? I LOVED it. The people were great, I've made a couple of good friends and the place had a lovely atmosphere and was in stunning surroundings. I even got home safely, though was worried when we heard about the tragic shootings by that taxi driver in Cumbria.
I missed home though, especially in the second week. I've been given an open invitation to go again whenever I like, which I will in a year or so, but I will only go for a week next time. I even got chatted up even though I didn't take my wedding ring off once, but that's firemen for you :-)
I've come back half a stone lighter and a tan so deep my mum told me off for not wearing enough sun cream :-) And I have exercises and things to do which do ease my symptoms so hopefully I'll stick at it.

Thanks Barbara, I was hoping to make people laugh :-) I did enjoy it and feel very lucky to have been. It's a first class place.

Oh I'm envious. I've never been chatted up whilst wearing my wedding ring, and I've never had wet knickers apart from when I was six and it all went HORRIBLY WRONG in Mrs Branch's English class.
Glad you had a great time and it's lovely to have you back. A fireman joined while you were away, but I don't think he's posted lately. Perhaps we scared him! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Oh Nina
I am glad you had such a wonderful time and that it has been so good for you.
I hope you did wear sunscreen and I know how much you will have missed your girlies and hubby.

I missed being on here too - I took my laptop but they don't have internet access in the rooms (wireless or otherwise) and when I asked to go on in the office, I got a telling off because you're not supposed to get distracted from anything for your therapy.
They were even funny about mobile phones! It was an education for me, going places without it. I felt funny at first, but soon got used to it. It was quite liberating actually, going off for a walk with just shorts, a t-shirt and trainers on. No keys, mobile phone or handbag, purse etc.

Hi Nina
It's good to have you back, and I'm glad you enjoyed your course.
It sounds very energetic, so I was relieved to see 17.00- relaxation class. I think I would have been falling asleep by that time!
I bet you look and feel super-fit now, so you'll be the envy of the office when you return. Watch out for those firemen :!:

It was a GREAT course. I loved it and have come back full of good resolutions and promises to myself to take the girls on more walks and bike rides.
Just a pity I've had the day I've had to ruin it all!
