when you have a flare up what are you main symtoms apart from the "huge" pain and swelling.
i had one on thursday night, it was full blown within about 2-3hrs of the first symptoms. its only the second one ive had and this was way more severe than the first one. i was sick with this and the pain was overwhelming but my need to sleep was more overwhelming than the pain, hard to believe but it was. i felt completely spaced out. its v.frightening when you have two hands but they wont do anything because of the pain and swelling.
are your flare ups anything like that. today, sunday i am back to normal. i had to go to nhs24 for medication, painkillers and anti inflams.
interested to hear your replies. :D m

Hi mairibc. I have PA and flare quite often, depsite being on humira for the past eleven months. I no longer have the swelling because of that but the overwhelming tiredness is a factor. Flares for me can last for up to three months (depending on whether I am on meds or a break from meds, hence the length). The tiredness is worse than the arthritis, because nothing takes it away. Hope you are feeling reasonable today. Dreamdaisy
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Mairibc,

Welcome to the forums they are a good lot here.

I agree totally with DD the tiredness is evil, I got it today an its so hard to fight that horrible feeling of being this tired and weakness..... I also have some control for it all but the tiredness doesn't seem to care about that

I had a long flare uncontrolled for a while and then 9 months of tablets that didn't work and its very hard but hope fully you will get some real help soon.

Can I ask what tests and xrays you have had there? I also hope you have seen a rumo? Hang in there cus it does get easier I promise you that much. Nice to meet you Cris x
