I've been prescribed Amlodipine for my high blood, I started them last week and since taking them I have been unwell. Last night was the worst pains in my tummy constantly sweating day and night, flushing, indigestion and other side affects. But last night the pains in my tummy made me sick it was that bad, so I have stopped taking them and will see my doc tomorrow. Has anyone else had these :?: and did you have problems too. Sorry for moanin as I am also having a bad flare too which doesn't help.

Hi Snowball, your poor thing. I've not taken them personally - but my sis has problems with blood pressure and has had to find meds which work for her. Hopefully the GP will be able to switch the tablets.

Let us know how you get on.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

I was on this drug a couple of years ago Jules, and had some of the symptoms you describe. They did settle down after a few weeks, BUT, my ankles were so swollen all the time, that I could barely walk. That never changed, so I came off them, and onto Ramipril. No problem since.

I`m sure your GP will find you something that will work for you......Much love.......Ange.

I stopped amlodipine over a year ago. I was also taking bendrofluoroside (sp/) and the doc added another tablet. After a week I felt so much worse I took myself off all of them and felt so much brighter. Amlodipine is a seriously horrible drug. The Husband was on it briefly too, it made his legs swell. I keep reminding myself to go back and get another prescription for BP meds and somehow I keep forgetting to do so. I've enjoyed feeling brighter, but now things aren't so good so to the docs I will go. When I'm in the mood. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Snowball

That doesn't sound good at all and I hope you are feeling better now. You are quite right to stop them. I've just been given a 3rd tablet for my high blood pressure. It's called Pelodipine and I take one tablet a day. I also take Benzoflouride 2.5mg and Rampiril 10mg. I've been on these for two weeks and the only thing I've noticed is that I get hot ... so the warm weather has been hell for me. I don't know if it is the tablets or the menopause that causes it!

You must have been very poorly with being sick and a flare up.

    Take care.
