RIDICULOUS day at work

Hello
As you know, I've been away for a fortnight in Penrith and today was my first day back at work. The barrage of questions started in the car park and followed me into the office even before I'd sat down or turned my computer on. I've had people queuing at my desk!
I know we're moving offices tomorrow and there's things that need to be done but, really, am I likely to know any answers when I've just walked in?
Then about lunchtime when they faded away to questions about my course and what I did etc etc because a lot of them have been to the same place.
Nothing is ready, IT won't answer my calls and everything is not quite packed yet. It's chaos. And we're supposed to be moving in tomorrow to the new place!
BIG glass of wine for me tonight. I'm going home at 5pm. I can't do anymore, these problems will still be here tomorrow!

Sorry about the stupid work day, Nina............my workplace moved three times and each time was worse than the last!
Have an additional glass of wine each night, that way by Friday you won't care what's gone where!

Hi Nina
I hope it all goes well tomorrow. You'll just have to go on another fortnight's course to recover from the move :!:0 -

Boy now that's a flipping good idea in my book.0 -
Sorry to hear what a day you have had
perhaps you should have stayed in Penrith a bit longer and left them to it!!
hope you manage to relax tonight and that tomorrow is not too bad.

What gets done gets done, what doesn't, doesn't. It will all be sorted in due course. Don't fret, it's not as though you are responsible for the whole thing. Somebody has fluffed their planning, not you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Good luck with the big move Nina!

Hi Nina

Thanks for all your messages everyone!
Pixy - I did have most of the bottle on Monday night ;-) My hubby said I'd regret it in the morning and I hate it when he's right. I've not had anymore wine since, it's too tempting to finish a bottle once started and my hubby is teetotal and so won't even help me out.
Call in sick???? You must be joking - leave this lot to sort it all out????
I couldn't have stayed in Penrith longer - they actually put off the move because I was away so I'd be here to co-ordinate it. I was "thrilled" to learn that!
Is this Mr C the other Fire Service person on here? Who is he? We're moving into offices temporarily so they can demolish our old fire station and build a new one in its place, so hopefully it will have a posh coffee machine.
I still get asked a lot of questions but at least I've been back a few days now and know some of the answers. The blokes are doing it on purpose now - if one of the removal men, the electrician or the plumber ask a question, they say "Ask Nina, she'll know". Then they burst out laughing at the look on my face and answer the question.
It's been a hectic few days but at least everything is now moved in. Half the stuff is unpacked and we're making good progress on that. I've organised everyone to do jobs :-)
I have GOT to find another job before the new station is built and we have to move back!

Hi Nina
Glad to hear that you have got everything under control ( I knew you would :!: ) No wonder they delayed the move until you returned from Penrith. Just imagine the chaos if they hadn't had you to get them all organised :!:
Take care, and don't get too exhausted. Otherwise, the benefits of your course will be wasted.
Love from Joan0
