I've only just become aware of theis website and forum, and alos in the last few weeks aware of Celadrex. Previously I've been prescribed cocodomal inplace of diclofenac ad the latter upset my tum.

I've been taking three a day for the last few days in place of cocodomol and am not sure if there is any great beneficial effect, but I am suffering some nausea and unusual general lethargy. Is there any connection?

How do others find Celadrex? Can it have these side effects? Is it nonetheless consistently more effective than other palliatives?

Keith

    Hi Keith,

    welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry I have no experience of celadrex.

Replacing diclofenac for cocodomol was a strange move as they both have different jobs. Diclofenac is an anti inflammatory and if that one didn't suit you there are others .. it is worth trying a different one.

Cocodomol is a painkiller and can make you feel nauseous and lethargic - it comes in lots of different doses and ratios - what strength is it? The dose might be too high for you, or you might need a different pain killer.

You don't say what type of arther you have - but it looks like you need to go back to your GP...

Have you tried iboprufen gels (max strength), heat/cold pads etc

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Do you mean Celebrex? It's an anti-inflammatory, popular with patients because it minimises the risk of stomach ulcers, unpopular with cash-strapped docs 'cos it costs more. I used to have it and it was very effective, it reduced inflammation so I was able to take fewer pain killers. The doc replaced it with Naproxen, which did very little to reduce inflammation but did give me oral thrush. It also had to be taken with another drug, Omeprazole, to protect my stomach. I think you mean Celebrex. All these names! Dreamdaidy

    I've taken Celebrex.

I found it more effective than Arcoxia (anti-inflam) but less effective than Sulpha (dmard) which I am on now.

Rheumy wasn't keen for me to stay on the celebrex long-term and I also had a bit of hair loss whilst on it, but I don't think that's a common side-effect......I was just unlucky!

Hello Keith - can't add to what the others have said but just wanted to say "welcome" to the forum and hope you are able to find the right balance of drugs soon. It really is all a bit of a balancing act so hang in there - and if you are having problems with what you are taking, do go back to your GP and ask for something else because there are lots of different ones out there.
    Good luck!
