Why is it that boys just love to have chocolate cakes. My son loves them

Me? I love coffee. Promised to make a cake for 24th July for my birthday - going to celebrate it at my all day painting workship

I try not to bake too often for this very reason! I've always let my girls choose their own birthday cakes from Asda. Aren't I a good mum

    Nx

PS - so what did the cake turn out like?

It just goes to show how much they think of you Val and the tradition of Birthday cakes made by you.

I used to make mine their birthday cakes, it was always half and half - half sponge, half fruit cake.

They were allowed to choose what colour icing they wanted and I had to improvise many times.......purple, mauve, black. There wasn't the range of colours available then. I gave up when the eldest one wanted white with red polka dots........I'm no real hand at that kind of thing!
