Rheumatologist visit.

Well just had my Rheumatologist visit and boy was it a real experience, seems my tingling in me feet is from an old back injury, the flare is probably a mix of OA and gout and not Fibromyalgia I also don’t have RA, oh and there is no correlation between my neck problems and my knees, he did inject my neck with around 6 shots to relax the knotting muscles, well he did warn me it would hurt, no s%&t it was like an attack form a nest of hornets God I have never had such a painful set of injections in my life!, but on the up side it’s helped my neck and he said knee injections would be pointless, so where does this it go from here??, I’m not sure but one thing I do know is I am knackered and might just go back to bed rather than go to work today, need time to just rest for a bit.

So was it as bad as you feared mell? Or do you think you are getting somewhere? To me it sounds as tho you are. Fibro seems to be out of the picture so that must leave things a little clearer. To me it sounds as tho it went well, despite the painful jabs! But if they bring relief . . . . Wishing you well. Go and rest - these visits do take it out of one. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Mell
How do you feel after the consultation? Do you feel reassured? and does he want to see you again? Did he say whether or not the knees can be sorted and when?
You feel perforated I can tell
Neck jabs  oh no  you have all my sympathy for that
I would definitely have a lie down and rest for a bit. Forget work
Love

Hi all well I went to work but felt really tired, right knee hurts but that's all, hey but at least me neck seems a little better, I'm not sure what to think really, he didn't have any ideas where all the pain comes from other than it might be linked to gout, I did explane thet it's cyclic and always comes mid week but looking back it does sound like even he didn't really think it was all from the OA, why is it that you always think of a retort after you have left!, I should have said that I never had this flare pain before the op but I sure do now, mind you though I wuold say it's a totally different pain to that I normally get,I would say that's a typicle sort of bone ache similar to that which I get in my neck and Tramadol and Oxy Norm work on it but not the flare pain that's a slow building deep crushing feeling that takes days to get going and takes about a week to bugger off.
I sort of get the feeling of ground hog day really but hey it's over now nothing I can do if they don't support my ill health retirment then I am going out on incapability and there's not a lot I can do, I'm worn out from the fight and ready to throw in the towl so if it is the sack I hope they just get it over with quickly.0 -
We're all stuck in a groundhog day, mell, we know what you mean! Well done on going into work, that shows that you are willing to keep on, and so it's them that are letting you down. Rest well tonight - hopefully an easier neck will help that. Thinking of you, DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Mell, what a disappointing visit!! Glad your neck feels better, but where do you go from here?
Workwise, I hope you get the retirement package. No one wants to g down the incapability route.
Thinking of you, and sending good vibes and best wishes xJay

Hi Mel,
Groundhog day is something most of us feel I think? I am glad t wasn't fibro though and really hope the neck jabs help, I have top up ones every 10 or so weeks and big ones every 6 or so months as well as the temporary de-nerve and well it does really help but yep they do hurt. Pregabalin helps with the nerve pain and it might be worth you asking about them?
I hope they have a decent medical discharge policy there?
So any news on your knee? Can they hep there at all or is that back to the orthos? That's the ground hog mark 2 isn't it? You see one and its not their department so you have to wait all over again to see another.
Did he say about pain clinic Mel? See my neck is done by them and she does do a good job and then see's me after 6 weeks, tops it up with the triggers and then hopefully this time will re-do the big ones ut shall have to see next week.
Hang in there Mels and hopefully someone will start to actually help you. How was it left re help for you with the rumo by the way? You may have said but I am afraid my eyes are not so good again just now. Anyway a ((( ))) and a hope Cris x0 -
Sounds a tough appointment Mell, but if the awful jabs help your neck - that's a bonus. What plans do they have for your knee?
Well done battling in to work ... so hope you get the retirement thing ... you have had a lot to contend with at work for a long time now.
Hope you get a good nights sleep.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi,
Well, at least they've done something for you. I've had my wrists injected in the past and they warned me it might take 2 to 3 weeks to work and it did. So if it doesn't work quickly, try not to worry too much.

Hi Lynn and all, yeah your right really really pissed off today now, just seen me GP and one consultant has writen to him saying yes I have OA but there was no sign of swelling or lack of movement so he doesn't know why I am in so much pain and this is from a private doctor, you would have thought that he would have been a bit more suportive seeming he got £200 out of me, I can see where this is going and it's not going to be good, the medical profesion has never really helped me much so no change there then.
I just feel so angry they were willing to operate for a bit of cash but as soon as you say it's still painful post op they close ranks on you, this is my bloody life they have messed up and I am being treated as if I am the one who has done something wrong here, why can't they just support me just for a bloody change.
It's a fecking mess really not good, 2 years ago I was in a decent job now I am a piss taking lead swining ****, it's not blood right or fair I deserve more than this, I am at a total loss as to what to do now, I'm so tired of it I just wish it was over I have run out of fight. They have won.0 -
Oh Mell, I'm so sorry you feel like this. Rest, sleep on it and hopefully you'll be ready to battle again. Things seems so much worse when we're in pain and worn out too.
Sorry Mell that I can't help more
Sincerely hope you feel brighter very soon.

High all!, well I got drunk slept hardly at all and went sick today, just couldn't face work really had my head up my **** yeasterday so I appologies for all my wailing, however I did get a visit from my mum and she is going through a similar experience, she really needs a new hip and knee but like me she doesn't get any swelling in her joints and also gets pain in quite a few other places same as me, ie fingers jaw etc, she's pissed off with it as well, hey but on the up side at least we are consistant!.
Oh one last thing she told me that a blood relative of mine was diagnoised with polymalgia rhumatica, I did Google it but I'm way to young for that and it doesn't quite fit my problems M O as Kojac would say, or was it who loves you baby!??.0 -
These things can have a tendency to run in families mell, it's one of nature's gifts and blessings. Not. I don't think anyone is ever too young for something to happen, that's another medical myth the docs love to peddle. Did the symptoms match yours in any way, shape, or form?
Don't apologise either for grumbling, it's why these forums are here. These conditions and the f*rting about that goes on with them can be so very frustrating, it's no wonder we all lose it from time to time. I hope you are not feeling too rough, are you at work today? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Sorry to hear your predicament Mel.
Sucks the specialists havent got a firm diagnosis.
Please dont give up - We have to fight it and be strong.

Hi DD and Abie I'll try and carry on but I have really lost the will right now, and the injections in my neck didn't really help, ye gods it was like playing with an Asian Hornets nest, I mean what's the point of that!?, why can't they make something a tad less hurty and a tad more effective,I bet he's never had them the git!, profesionals really do piss me off, unless you bump into one who knows a bit about the problems you have your sunk, well I am that's for sure. So I guess it's incapability and the wroth of HR for me soon.0

Oh, I really thought your neck might improve - if they were steroid jabs one is supposed to rest for a good time after to give them time to work. I never had much relief from imjected steroids tho, I have to say.
Why don't you chuck it all in mell? It would take away an awful lot of stress. Delboy posted a link on CC about work and benefits, it's a way down today's list, I'm the only one to have replied. There might be some info there that could be useful. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi DD naw not or can't do that not sick enough I bet, anyway knowing my luck I will get feck all, guess i will just have to keep at it for now, thing is I really wanted to go to Pembrokshire to work had it all maped out now this, the thing that really hurts is how work and work mate have treated me, they act and tell me I am making it all up, and that's even with the polariods to prove it.
It seems it goes like this, you have an op then that's it all better, well no it bloody well isn't is it, **** it DD I'll just hang around like a bad smell to piss em all off.
Oh talking to me mum today she had been given Diazapan for her neck says it works really well, anyone else on here come across it??.0 -
Stink away mate, that's a plan! I thought diazepam was a sleeping pill. Could be wrong, usually am. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
