hi i have not posted here for a while sorry but i do read every day what is going on whith you all.
my husband is the one with severe RA and at the moment is having a really bad time we have been to see the OT at our local hospital and she referd us to somebody about a bathroom as the bath we have now is geting hard for my husband to get in and out. they phoned yesterday and asked a lot of questions and also asked if our finances were joint i was wondering why this is are these things means tested ?

    Hi Alison

    In my area (Manchester) this type of help (shower installation; downstairs toilet, etc) is means tested..

    Sorry your husband is struggling with the bath.

    Yes all major adatations are means-tested.

    Are they coming out to see him and the house too?

    It is amazing the positive difference it can make to Arthrititis sufferers when getting help with day to day things so I hope it works out for you.

    If you don't get your bathroom changed you may be able to get a lift or there is a powered inflatable seat to lower the patient down into the bath or seats to put into the bath to act as a half way solution. So things may not be quite so urgent if these are used whilst you're sorting out other ideas?
