I went for a visit to the dermatologist today as my P is all over my body as is my PA (which is polyarticular)

she has offered me the injections of Abilimumab (is this humira?) and/or a possibility of Acitretin - which is the one to have - which is better?

i am in the dark on these and would love opinions please

thanks for any response, chris

Hi Scorpio - Adalimumab is Humira but I'm sorry I haven't heard of the other one. Perhaps someone else is on this and will be able to advise. Is there any info on this other drug on the Publications section of this website? Hopefully then, armed with some more information, you will be able to made an informed decision.
    Good luck!

Hi scorpio, sorry you are going thro a tough patch with it all. I have read of a chap who was covered in it and he had a fabulous response to infliximab - it took it all away. Anything ending in 'mab' means 'mabine', ie based on mouse protein. I had infliximab years ago, but it stopped working too quickly. I am now on humira (11 months) and it has had a good effect on my inflammation levels, keeping them in single figures. I differ from you in that I do not have musch psoriasis to speak of.

It would seem to be a good option, and if you can get the funding then go for it. There could be an alternative, however. My mum sent me an article from the Daily Telegraph, concerning a chap who had batled with psoriasis for 50 years. A chance question from his hospital consultant led him to try a cream called Diprosalic, a combination of a steroid cream and salicylic acid. He did, and within two weeks of the twice-daily applications it all went. Stubborn patches that had never shifted went. Would that be worth a try first? The drugs are good but they do mess with the rest of the body. I wish you well. DD

Adalimumab is Humira and that works brilliantly for me. Not heard of the other one either.
