when I had the dye injected into my damaged wrist today ahead of my wrist replacement op, the DR doing it said she is very doubtful I have OA as the damage is so bad and extensive and feels I have another type of arthritis running alongside the OA in my other joints,
X Rays show its in my toes ankles knees hips back shoulders elbows wrists and fingers, think that covers it all
does anyone else have this same problem, shes writing to my consultant to let him know what shes found,
thought you might laugh when I told my 21 year old big broadshoulder son what they did he almost passed out  he went white and felt sick :?

I've only just spotted this, lavenderlady, my apologies for the tardy reply. It could be RA - do your joints swell at all, or feel hot? It could be PA if they swell, feel hot, and you have psoriasis (or not), but as I understand it PA doesn't affect the hips (at least according to a booklet I have on it it doesn't.) There are quie a few types of arthritic conditions, some can be diagnosed by a blood test, some cannot, it's a minefield. I think you need more information - how often do you see a rheumatologist? Hi LavenderLady

Before you next visit to the consultant I would advise to research the different types and symptoms, then jot them down on paper and take with you to the appointment.

That way, whilst you are asking questions you both may stumble across a symptom you have that doesn't normally register in your head and thus help with a diagnosis.

    Worth a try.

If researching please learn from MY mistake ..... don't panic at what you read as usually worst case scenarios are written about or register in our heads. Everyone is different.

Good luck and much support, Carol

HHmmmm, I have similar pains in the same places, 'connective tissue decease' was suggested and Palindromic Arthritis and OA, I'm just collecting a few more diagnosis and then I'm starting a new hobby!

I certainly have OA but I get all the pain without the swelling and heat. My Dr. suggested the Palindromic Arther and said its like RA but the sparkplug is faulty and never fires off into fullblown RA. Whatever....

I expect someone will get it right, sooner rather than later? Meanwhile back at the farm........

    8) Its a grin, honest!

My arthritis has been described as palindromic and airwave's mention of it has prompted me to have a quick 'google'.

It does seem very similar to what I experience and possibly explains why I've been so lucky not to have any permenant damage to any joints despite having arthritis since a young age. Am about to go out but will look into it more later!

Maybe you have OA and RA ? can you get that, both at the same time?
sounds like you are real brave too - Hope the wrist replacement op goes really well - you deserve it :)

    Hi Lavender lady,

It could be any of the inflammatory ones, though have you had blood tests done? I got pa and oa and its the pa in my wrists. Maybe your consultant will want to see you as soon as he has the letter? it might help to know what your up against and if it is an inflammatory one he would be able to start treatment?

Keep us posted and hopefully they will sort out what it is as well as deal with what its done. Cris x
