I just wanted to share with you that I got good news today. I have been awarded DLA! Totally shocked as I understand it to be quite difficult to get even with Arthur!.

Congratulations! I am pleased for you. Use it wisely - it's not for shiny, sparkly things! DD

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Congratulations, I often read how people are constantly turned down despite being a genuine case.

I was so fortunate to get it first go and that saved a lot of stress!

    Hi zechariah

It is awful when people with this condition have to fight and stress before they get heard. I was also lucky and was awarded first off without any examination. They based their decision on info from the Rheumy. Its just such a shame it seems to be a post code lottery as to whom is awarded their entitlement. If anyone out their feels they are hitting a brick wall then contact your local MP and make them aware of the situation. They have to investigate your claim. After all its what they are paid to do. If all else fails then contact your local post and give them the story! That should shame those governing bodies who still refuse to recognise that Arthur is so devasting to peoples quality of life. Good Luck to all still trying to get whats rightly yours. DONT GIVE UP!
    Love

    Hello,
This is GREAT news!!! Is it just me, or are more people getting it now? Probably just my imagination but, it seems more people are reporting that they have been excepted. I hope this is true, not wishful thinking!

Enjoy your extra money and get yourself a present!

    Love Sue

well done , I have been getting it for over 15 years with my many health problems I was happy getting low rate care until recently when my health took a massive nose dive and i now get middle care and low mobility indefinatly, I tend to use it to buy things to make my life easier my DRs were all very helpful and encouraged me when they knew i was only getting low rate care , so get your DR or consultant to fill in the page on the form it really helps and makes things easier,

    Hi
Lavenderlady is right. Your Medical team need to support your claim especially on the mobility. When applying you must fill the form in as if it is your worse day even if you have some good days. We all know that the bad days can out number the good days. This will support your claim.

I plan to use the money to convert the bathroom to a more "friendly" environment. I need to install a bath with a door and get rails put in to help me get in and out alone. My poor hubby has developed back and shoulder aches with having to lift me in and out. Not to mention he is having to race around after our 4 year old tornado! Its well worth fighting for! :)
