I have not seen my rheumy for two years, then found out why my consultant left the hospital.
My doctor decided to make me an urgent appointment ,
do to my symptoms getting worse,
I received a phone call from a very pleasant lady
on Monday 3rd may asking if I could attend an appointment on Saturday May 8th, I was over the moon :) the same lady rang me back on the Thursday to say she was sorry but they had cancelled the clinic,I was so disappointed.
Then 2 weeks ago I still hadn't received any appointment so decided to ring the hospital to find out when they were going to send for me,the woman that I spoke to was so nasty said I hadn't turned up for my appointment, I tried to explain about someone calling to say it was cancelled, but she was having none of it, told me she could not help me to go back to me GP.
I came off the phone in tears, so decided to ring consultants secretary.
Had the shock of my life it was the same woman I had just spoke to, She said haven't I just spoke to you, I said yes & I am very upset, why is that then she said, I explained why then she said I know nothing about the cancellations, the clinic went ahead, it must have been when they thought he was going to be stuck in Jordan.
we will no longer be having a rheumatologist clinic at the hospital, because the PCT are taking it over so it will be in the community from now on, but I will get you in when available.
I saw my GP told her about what had been said, so she sent this lady a nasty letter telling her it was not my fault, when I'd been told the clinic was cancelled so asked for another appointment ASAP.
I received a letter today for September 17th is that urgent
I've rung my doctor today who is probably as fed up as me,
RANT OVER
Sue xx

Hi, not surprised you are ranting!! How inefficient ...

Hope your efforts combined with that of GP help you get an appointment sooner.

When all sorted ... AND you have had the appointment, you could always make a complaint via PALS...

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Sue,

I am so sorry you have been mucked around so much, it makes me cross when they do this and then try and blame you!

I agree with Marion is there another hospital you could go to?

I really hope the gp can speed this up and to be honest the fact you haven't seen a rumo for two years is deplorable in its self.

Sending ((((( ))))) and so many hopes to you flower. Love Cris xxx

Thanks Speedy, Marion & Airwave I don't know why we have to suffer, I said to a friend earlier, I think most of this is my own doing because I am not pushy enough, I all ways think well there are a lot worse off than me,
but i just can stand much more of this pain plus not sleeping,
It doesn't help being taken off all my anti- inflammatory due to having a damaged kidney, so have a lot of swelling
    thank you all for listening
    take care Sue xx

    Hi Sue,

Well its always nice to see you flower :D

I really hope the gp can speed it up and I know what its like to have the choice of just one hospital.... that isn't very good.... but the rumo department is brilliant which helps... shame about the rest :lol::lol::lol:

I really hope you get it moved forward to a quicker appointment and sending a sheep slimmed ((((( ))))) cus I haven't changed yet  Love Cris xx

You are having a rough time at the moment, especially if you are having to cope without meds to alleviate symptoms. I am so sorry, queenfan, it's rough with meds, rough without. Does sunshine help in any way at all? Probably not! DD

    Hi Sue

What a bl**dy awful thing to happen.

Karma will get the nasty 'lady' so just concentrate on positive thoughts to feel a bit better.

Good on you for not giving in to them.

Keep contacting them to try to grab a cancelled appointment.

    Good luck.

That's terrible Sue, a similar thing happened to me with a cardiac appointment, but was resolved.

I would have a word with the PCT, they have to respond to complaints and it looks bad on their patient feedback reports.

The manner in which you were spoken to breaks hospital guidelines, so they are definately at fault there.

There is a maximum wait time for seeing a consultant, I forget what it is.

Glad your GP is supportive, that does help.

    Take care, XXX Bubbles

This so not good. What a way to treat people. I know it's hard to stand up for yourself, i'm the same. BUT at the end of the day it's your health that matters most. Hope you hear something soon.

I am so sorry. I have been waving my arthritis wand like mad, hoping that all those that have done you wrong will have a taste of it, but the only outcome so far is an aching arm. I will carry on tho - they deserve it! DD

No speedy I haven't,but I'm sure she wouldn't let me down,
she can be very feisty, from what I can see,
she reminds me of a good friend I have.
I hope I don't meet that woman at the hospital
    face to face
