Daft Laws

Whilst amusing myself with some early-morning ironing, I learned something interesting. Apparently, the last government spent many happy hours creating new laws, on average 33 per month. Apparently I am now not allowed to be drunk in charge of a cow, neither must I 'interfere' with a carton of eggs when ordered not to by a police officer.
I cannot comprehend the circumstances that led to the creation of these draconian rules, I don't have a cow (Thanks Bart!) neither do the police tend to be around when I am collecting eggs from my neighbour. My civil liberties, on the other hand, have been well abd truly infringed. I now WANT to be drunk in charge of a cow but the damned law won't let me!
The Boy Wonder Clegg has announced that the new government would like feedback from the general populace about laws that should go. They want to clear some of the petty legislations that kept NL so happy. Any suggestions? Obviously, the two mentioned above are candidates, but what about more serious matters, such as ID cards? DD

Hi DD,
I think the drunk in charge of a cow might be a better law than you think..... Cows don't like drunks and they need to be moved, if dairy, twice a day unless they have the computerised milking sheds when they can get them selves milked...... I have seen some drunk cow herding.......
I don't understand the egg one......
I don't really know what laws they did.... I expect I break several every day xx0 -
Apparently in Liverpool it is illegal for a woman to be topless in public unless they are a clerk in a tropical fish store.
Would anyone in Liverpool please nip into their local tropical fish store & see if the clerks are taking advantage of this?
Nick Clegg has just said on morning TV that the public will be asked what they want but 'ministers will decide'. Hmm .....

I suppose the egg one is to stop us from getting them out of the box to throw at the rozzers???
Poor cows
I would have happily had an Id card too - think it was a cost issue there probably?
Topless???? I think no-one should it is GROSS!!!!0 -
i wouldnt want an ID card i have nothing to hide but the goverment always mess this stuff up and i dont trust any of them.

lol DD this made me laugh. I've now just looked daft laws up and found a few more, there were some from overseas too!
the daftest overseas one i found is:
It is illegal to be blindfolded while driving a vehicle in Alabama
who in their right mind would drive a vehicle if they're blindfolded? :?
answers on a postcard please!Just keep plodding along singing a song0 -
I think we digress. I agree with del that the extra info for the ID cards was too much. I thought that even if we had a scheme those with mischief on their minds would bypass it all somehow.
I disagreed with HIPS for house sales, which I know have gone now. One man's view of how draughty a house is, or how energy efficient, may not match anothers. Our local council did a heat loss survey during last winter. I am in a mid-terraced Victorian house, which does have a good current of air flowing thro it. It needs it to breathe! In the winter I keep the curtains drawn, have a draught excluder at the front door plus a heavy door curtain, etc etc. Next door have no curtains. I looked at the thermal image of the two houses: ours green and blue with the odd red/orange/yellow spots, theirs red and orange from top to toe. It's up to the individual.
I do miss NL at the moment. No-one has told me to drink plenty of water, and wear sunscreen if I go outdoors during this hot spell. I don't think I can cope. Oh hang on, of course I can. I have a brain. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

ID cards are already removed, now the daft sods who bought them want a refund
Retention of DNA of innocent people should definitely go, the NHS records database too.
Well I fink they should keep DNA of those convicted for the time the crime stays on the books but those who get arrested and then let go should have theirs binned once the case has been dropped, thing is this argument is very complex, in reality DNA has worked wonders for unsolved serious crimes such as murder and rape and has caught a few child killers, Sally Molsead was a good case the man who abducted raped and murdered her was caught 30 years later after the murderes sisters DNA was taken for drink driving.
ID cards are an odd one though, good idea but what is the point, we can't keep our borders secure so why bother when half the world can walk in and out when it likes.
For those against though it doen't matter anyway we are constantly monitored by CCTV and credit card use already, I wouldn't worry if you have nothing to hide you should be OK, I mean the police have their hands full catching speeding car drivers so wont bother you so long as you don't drive to fast that is.0
