Hi
Joseph has reported that he has taken the government's test for being British, and failed. ( see Daily Express thread ) This is my alternative test.
What are the first three things which come into your mind when you think of being British :?:

1. Queuing. Never known a nation so obsessed with joining a queue, even if they don't know what it's for
2. Talking about the weather
3. Rubbish public transport. I can't believe how much more efficient Germany is.

There are some interesting replies here, so I think you have all passed the test.
Mine would be:
1. The monarchy. The Queen is so symbolic of Britain.
2, Tolerance. Sometimes it wears thin, but I think we should be proud of our tolerance of other people.
3, A good cup of tea. I've drunk tea in other countries, but it never tastes the same.0 -
I think that we are the only nation that understands the fluid known as 'builder's' tea. The Chinese understand fragrant tea. The Americans have absolutely no idea about anything other than coffee, and then they muck that up too. The Italians are far better at coffee than tea. The Chermans do beer extremely well, the Dutch have a take on coffee that is quite remarkable. The French do wine. I have yet to discover what the Nordic nations are good at, refreshment-wise. Maybe Elna can enlighten me? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
