I did a really stupid thing yesterday was looking for a set of keys and was convinced they were on top of a wardrobe....so instead of asking someone else to look for me, nope silly me goes n gets a chair to stand on....Well, couldnt stand on it had to sit then get up with good leg, drag bad one semi up......Guess what? Keys were not there and now I was up on this chair couldnt get back down, couldnt even sit back down, was stuck n squealing n moaning!!! Eventually my dad got a set of steps and I sort of careered onto them whilst leaning on his shoulder..........Now cant even put hardly any weight on it and was like my knee had burst proper.......Know only meself to blame
Am I just the most daftest twit ever?? Comments forthcoming deserved I fear.....

Oh dear , hope you are feeling better,
The trouble is we are on automatic pilot, because we have been so used to being able to do it , we just jump in, then we realise we cant and we get stuck and feel stupid, dont worry we all do daft stuff just hope your knee is ok and rest up.

Easy done Elaine.
Ice, elevate and rest today.
Hope it improves soon.

PS did you find the keys??!!I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Speedalong
Yes will do that today and it should settle down, limping about rather pathetically just now....
No didnt find keys, its spare set for car and think I need a fortune teller to tell me where they are at!!

Hi Elaine,
wait until you are looking for something else - you wont find what you are looking for, but will probably come across the keys!!!
Can you remember when you last used/needed them? If so, recap the event and retrace your steps ... usually works for me.

hi understand where you are coming from always setting arther off by doing something he does not like i used to be able to do these things and feel i should be able to do them now???? and get frustrated when arther bites.
week before last soaked hands in bathroom sink was lovely and cool and yes did go on to put good foot in felt fantastic did not think would go up there that easy and was so cool. yes you have it thought will try other foot well would not go on its own so helped lift it the rest of the way nearly could not get it out lol and suffered for days after i will never learnval0 -
Hi Elaine, big oooops, hope it is easier today, rest, pain relief, ice and or heat.
As Val says, we want to do things that we used to and it is SO frustrating at times, coming to terms with the fact that you can no longer reach, bend or move like we did, due to rotten arthur. I decided that I could weed a border yesterday, well, I did about a meter, then I was barely able to move.
I think I can vacuum the carpets, well, I manage the hall, or the kitchen, then I cannot speak or breathe. OH says, "why don't you ask, don't just wander off and lug the hoover out of the cupboard, let me do it". Easier said than done, as we feel that it is admitting defeat.
I am not as bad as I was, I do realise that I cannot do as much, but still push things sometimes.

totally agree :?0 -
You need one of those extending mirrors, so that you don't have to clamber up or peer around corners.
At least you can put your feet up.

Hi Elaine
I am sorry to read your story, but I am afraid that I am just like you and take chances and even think at the time, I should not really be trying to do this but I will be careful and it will be ok. So I can truly sympathise with you. You are not a daft twit, we just think it will be ok. Often it is, sometimes not, as in your case.
I do hope that you are feeling much better today. It really is soooo annoying isn't it? We never learn though, not the likes of you and me.
Good job you did not try that with no one in the house so you were not that much of a twit, aye?
I hope you find those keys soon, so that you do not think of any other, difficult to reach places where they may be. I bet it is bugging you as to their whereabouts!

I hope you are better now. It is so frustrating when you want something now and you cannot reach it.

Hi Eilane,
How are you today? Bet the keys turn up when you are least expecting too.

Hi Elaine
Dont worry my love you are not the only one that does the most stupid things, take me for example I have (had before my op) a terrible habbit of climbing on the chair to get things from off the top of the wardrobe but its not just a normal chair its the computer chair - that swivels - now that is stupid, imagine the picture I am standing on the chair with a box in my hands swivelling from one side to the other wondering how I am going to get off the damn thing, its only by luck that I havent fallen off and broken a limb yet.
Will we ever learn!!!
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Bubbles
Well thats what these surgeons dont get that we are so used to being capable but are no longer and to a certain extent reliant on others.....Even my brothers and sistsers tell me i can do things such as like I did but if they saw me theyd realise....I cant even plan a holiday either as the thought of getting on a plane and all its antics just is beyond me.....People in street also annoy me by pushing past me as im slower and nearly knocking me over...

Hi Elna
Well its just frustration with me as im not really regarded as physically impaired but i feel I am....Its also a bit frightening too when I do stuff like that even with someone in house i was still squealing like i did when was a kid and scared to jump off big wall or rock!!
I cant find my keys and its bugging me, got a feeling they been chucked out....
