Hi everyone

I hope you are all doing ok and enjoying the hot weather.

OH and I are going camping on the weekend!! I was worried about the sleeping arrangements. We managed to buy a couple of raised mattresses, however.......they're still not high enough ffor me to get up from so hubby will just have to help me up in the mornings. We should be fairly comfy (I hope). I'm amazed at all the things we'll need to take with us and just hope they'll fit in the car. We're novices at this camping game!

If I cope well this weekend we're planning on going for longer in the first week of September and maybe fit in another weekend before that. There are some beautiful places in the UK and it will be nice exploring them.

It will be an adventure if nothing else!!:lol:

Are you going anywhere this summer?

With regards
Sharmaine

Oh Sharmaine I used to LOVE camping :)

I hope it goes well for you - I agree there are so many lovely places to see in this country. There are also some very posh camp sites with lovely facilities.

We are off to a gite in france in August.

    Love

Oh I do hope you enjoy. I'm off camping this weekend too, a little bit more comfortable though because I sleep in a VW campervan - that's where i'm off, to one of the VW shows - can't wait, fingers crossed for us both that the weather turns out well. Happy days :D xx

    Hi Sharmaine,

We used to do camping holidays as children, lots of fun. I hope you both have a lovely time.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Bertyboy

The forecast is for good weather this weekend. I told OH I wasn't going if it was going to be miserable weather.

I hope you get the opportunity to get out in your caravan.

    Hi Kerry

Have a good time in your VW van - I used to have one many years ago. They're great. Mine was yellow and white.

Take lots of mozzy repellant. Every time I venture outdoors I've been bitten - especially on my feet. I'm taking of repellant with me plus some citronella candles.

Camping? You can't beat it, well perhaps you can. Caravan gives me a bit more comfort these days but then the tents and accessories have improved vastly. My niece even takes a small trailer with fridge, cooker, TV, hairdryer and most likely the kitchen sink as well!

    Enjoy a good nights sleep.

    Hi Airwave

OH thinks camping means 'roughing it' ! He used to camp out with his mates as a teenager and I think they lived off baked beans, used the tent as just a place to sleep! As you say there's no need to rough it these day .......... being comfy is more my style!!!

    Hi Sharmaine
OH and I have just been debating whether to look for another caravan. This thread has just helped me make a decision :D
    Love, Lynn xxx

Our van has a 'rock and roll' bed, proper arched wood mattress supports, you just pull towards you and click the ratchet and lay it down, brilliant!

    Hi Airwave

Is it a caravan or a camper you have?

We're after a little 2 berth lightweight caravan - limited by the car we have. The newer vans are mostly quite heavy these days, so a "preloved" one is the order of the day!!!!

    Any bright ideas?

    Where you been Lynn???

Have missed you - asked Cris where you were....she said you were ok....?

    Lynn,
I have loadsa ideas, not all of them are sensible! We have brought a Rapido 'pop top' caravan, 3-berth, weighs 625kg when unladen and is pulled by a Citroen C3 1.1 litre engine. The van can be easily moved around by the pair of us, the car is light to drive, economic and big enough for two+. The van is a bit tardis like, put 'pop top caravan' into google and you'll see a few. We have had caravans and motorhomes for 30 years but don't want the complication or costs, which will only increase.

    Hi Joan

I think I'll relax and let OH do everything!!! I'm ready to go and he told me this evening that we'll get everything sorted tomorrow!!!! It's taken me most of the week to put everything together. I've even made us a meal for tomorrow. We're leaving about 4pm and by the time we get there and set up it'll be 8pm - only time for a shower, a visit to the pub and then bed!

Maybe we should have bought a caravan!! I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
