Hi there

I had my first steroid injection in the bum yesterday at 4pm. The nurse said it would take about 24 hours to take effect. I went to bed expecting great things but woke up exactly the same.

However, 22 hours after the jab I am experiencing some tingling in my hands (where I get the most pain & stiffness). Could this be a sign the steroid is starting to work, perhaps?? Has anyone else experience this? Did your steroid injection take more than 24 hours to kick in?

The rheumatologist said that if the steroid injection doesn't work, it is not inflamation that is causing my pain & I would then need a bone scan. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I am probably being too impatient & expecting a mirace cure.....sorry!

    Hi Sugarbuttie

I think it can take a wee bit longer than that for some people.

I also know some who have inflamatory arthritis' who are not helped by them too :(

I would say the tingle might be a good sign and that you should hope for the best - I will cross my fingers too :D

    Good luck

    Love

    Toni xx

I think I expected too much from the first one I had to be honest. I expected to feel great and didnt. I think maybe it just stopped me feeling any worse and maybe got me over my flare up quicker than I would have without it. I've had a couple now and the same thing. In my experience, its not a shot and your fine, its just a 'lets stop this from worstening' xx
