Hi
I had my August Rheummy appointment put back until December a wee or two back, I did write a post about it at the time as I was not too happy! I rang the consultants secretary and she arranged for me to go on the late notification list, which, I must admit I was sceptical about and wondered if it was just a way of saying 'go away and shut up'.
Well, this morning the phone rang and it was the secretary, asking if I could make an appointment for Tuesday at 11am, which is just great. It really pleased me to be proved wrong in this case, especially as I've not been so good the last few weeks, with a lot of hand and wrist pain and swelling, swollen ankles and my neck is driving me mad. It burns and pricks as if a big needle is going in,makes my head ache etc. Sorry, I'm moaning! :?
At least I am going to be seeing someone now. Last time it was the consultants specialist registrar and she was quite good as far as I can tell.
So its off to the hospital next week.
Love Sue

Hi,
My trouble is that I don't really believe they will do anything when things like this happen. They must get appointments cancelled though, and at least if you can do short notice, they can use the time, instead of wasting it. Thanks.
Lots of love,Sue0 -
Sue,
That's great news. I hope you have all your questions ready.
Hope it all goes well.

Hello Anne,
Yes, I'm going to write them down and try and get some real sense out of them. I know that it can be hard to diagnose arthritisy things, but all I know is that I am feeling worse, not better and the pain in my neck is feeling more intense and is there for most of the time. I am so slow now, everything I do takes at least twice as long as I keep stopping for breaks, so the pain eases a bit.
The other day I started thinking is this all in my head as nothing clear has shown up, but then I tried to lift a mug of tea and spilt it as my wrist gave way with a sharp pain. So I don't think that is something I magined.
Don't know about other people, but this humid heat seems to make things worse, too. Moan over!!!

Hi Sue,
I do hope they do something to help. How is the operated wrist now? Did it help?
Not long to wait and hopefully you will see the rumo him self and not one of the side kicks as they are sometimes not as good.
How are you apart from that? Not seen you about as much of late. ((( ))) and luv Cris xx0 -
Hi Sue...so pleased you've got that earlier appointment.
The pain you're having is definitely not in your head...and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Write down all that's been happening with your neck and wrists and insist on being seen (as Cris said too) by a consultant....and even if you start with the registrar you can still ask to see the consultant.
I do hope you get some answers and more importantly the right meds and options offered and explained.
(((hugs)))

Thanks Cris and Iris, its just gone on for such a long time. I know this is common, but sometimes it gets to me! Thank you all for your support, it really helps and also knowing that other people feel the same sometimes also helps. Love Sue
PS My wrist is a lot better at night and seems to be Ok, but they are saying I have ulner nerve problems, which showed on the first nerve test. They are pleased, (and so am I), with op results. I have much more feeling in my left hand and the pins and needles in the night have gone compleatly!
