Hi Berty, I second Val's advice - rest, ice and elevate. Can you think of any activity you did yesterday that might have set it off?

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Berty,

I third the ice and elevation idea. I wonder if its because its having to do more with the operated leg not being up to total parr? Talk to your gp tomorrow and elevate it above the height of your hip. I so hope it soon goes down but please talk to your gp tomorrow. ((( ))) and love Cris xx

    Hi Berty

Is it itchy or is it discoloured (ie purple)?

    Could it be a bite?

    Hi Bertyboy

I agree with Val. Ice and elevate it. It might be this very hot weather causing it. If it does not go down can you elelvate it on a pillow, this drains the fluid from the legs.

    I hope this helps you.

    Hi Berty

I, like Cris, wondered if it is because the other leg is having to work harder at the moment.

    Take care

    Hi bertyboy

Sorry to hear about your swollen ankle. do you take bp tablets? My GP put me on some new ones which have made my ankles swell and i get very hot and flushed with them. Just a thought.

Ice and elevation is a good idea.

    Regards

    Hi Berty.

I do hope it goes down after a good nights rest. Sometimes I think the hot weather can have an effect on our joints.
Anyway, wishing you a better day tomorrow.

    Hi Berty

I am sorry to hear that - it does happen sometimes. You will get there, but it may just take a little longer.

    Chin up,

    Luv
