Hi all, well, saw the rheumy again this Friday. He is certain I have Sjogren's as well as the RA, he wasnt clear about which was the primary one. I also have fibromyalgia (well, why mess about, lets take anything thats going!!)
He has upped the mtx to 25mg and the hydroxy to 400mg then pregabelin for the fibro to 300mg. He has organised for me to have an appt at the Sjogren's clinic there to have a lip biopsy. I have been back on the pred for a week at 15mg, and so much better re pain and swelling. Last week I had to hold onto the furniture to get into his room. He wants me to come down on the pred after 10 days to 10mg then after 2 weeks 7.5mg and I see him again in a month, he believes we can get things under control if I keep going so he can see whats happening etc. He has told me that if I flare llike that again I am to call for earlier appt, the reason I hadnt was that my appt was for 16 July anyway, so seemed unnecessary, got told off for that!! He thinks I came off pred too quickly in May, he did say he wanted me off it to see how everything was with out the pred helping, so I came off it in readiness for the July appt. So, am waitng for the appt at the Sjogren's clinic, and also one from the rheumy as "computer say no" as the receptionist told me!! he needs to get his superior to come and log in to get me booked in. Other than that, still working with the little ones (just!!) as long as I can stand lol!! Hope everyone is doing ok, take care x x Jay x x :)

    Hi Jay,

wow that is quite a diagnosis!! But your rheumy sounds great and seems to be working hard in your very best interests. Glad the pred is working and that the rheumy has a plan.

    Take care,

    Speedy
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hi Jordan, wow, 2 diagnoses for the price of 1, eh! That's value.

I'm seeing a Rheumy privately a week on Tuesday as I have had very little help from the doctors I have registered with in the new area. I'd be soooo happy to be told that I have nothing to worry about - but I don't think it will happen.

I am so glad you are getting somewhere at last, remembering how ill and uncomfortable you were at the end of last year, you have really taken control and have now got positive results with more to come by the sounds of it!

    Well done.

Hi, I'm also seeing the rheummy on Tuesday, I've managed to get a cancelled appointment, looks like we are all having a busy week! If I hadn't got Tues it would have been waiting until December, when my original appointment was for August. Confusing sometimes, isn't it! :? Hope all goes well.

    Love Sue

    Thanks for the replies.
Speedy - pred, the miracle drug (well, not really) but its certainly helps!!Hope you are dong ok at the moment x
Annie - Hope your private appt goes well for you, I saw a private consultant last January, he was brilliant, and offered to see me at his nhs clinic, but its too far to travel as lots of tube changes with loads of stairs. Good luck with appt, let us know how it goes take care x
Sue - Glad you managed to get a cancellation, it seems that at the moment its getting hard to get seen and people are waiting for a long time. My sister waited 4 months for initial appt and still waiting for scans etc. Hope it goes well, keep us updated love x
Cris - The good old pred eh!!! and I will definitely keep working as long as I can, must admit week before last could hardly stand and was sooooo hard to keep going, but know now that its a flare and to stop and get seen lol!! how dumb am I not to even recognise a flare!! Hope you are doing ok, take care x
