I am moving to a new home 250 miles away hopefully within a month. My rheumatologist has told me that because i have kidney problems related to anti-inflamms i should be offered injections when i eventually see a new rheumatologist. I feel that my rheumy is passing the buck as he has known about my kidney problems for over 3 years. At present i have been told 1 or 2 anti -inflamms a week should not cause significant damage to my kidneys. Meanwhile my arthritis/Ankylosing Spondylitis is getting much worse. Painkillers do not help much. I now have symptoms in my lower back, spine, ribs, hips, knees, ankles, toes, eyes(uveitis), thankfully not all at the same time. The latest pain is in my right shoulder to my elbow which has been almost constant for weeks now. Can anyone recommend any self help therapy apart from the usual heat patches, gels, magnetic therapy. All advice welcome. Thanks, The Singer.

    Hi Singer

    Gosh that's a brave move!

I think you have probably tied all the usual pain reliefs there are, but ahve you tried a tens machine?? I have one and use it when I feel desperate. If you cant take anti-inflams - you must feel desperate more than me :(

Wondering about your move and just being nosey are you moving somewhere nice?

One of us may know a good rheumy to suggest.

    Love

Thanks for your reply Toni, I have a tens, set by physio no good to me. I am moving back home the n/east after 21 years in the south. I happen to know one of the leading rheumys as he saw me in the past it,s just a case of having to wait. x The Singer.

    Hi The Singer,

I know you said self-therapy - and this isn't but have you tried acupuncture?

Good luck with the move by the way, are you excited? Bet you have a lot to do though ....

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi The Singer

So you will be moving 'back home'. That could well be a good move.

Tens - tried :( will work on it and if I think of anythig get back to you.

Glad you know a rheumy there already - that must be reassuring - the wait to see him/her won't

    Love
