Hi, Still not sleeping very well at nights....waking 3 or 4 times with pain.
Was on dihydrocodeine but after a few days was zombie like so went back to 2 codeine at night......not helping much but a bit better.
Anyway went to the doc today to get repeat prescription and it was a new doc so mentioned lack of sleep to her and she seems to think I should try tramadol at night now. I was on that in hospital for THR and for the 6 weeks after coming out before seeing consultant but cant really judge because I was trying to sleep on my back then. So I've taken 2 at about 9.30pm tonight and will take my 2 paracetamol when I go to bed.......does anyone know if you can take codeine at the same time as tramadol....I dont mean literally at the same time LOL but in the same day or do they clash???

Hi Hileena,
Hope you sleep better tonight ....you could be snoring away as I type  I think your should give your pharmacist a ring they will be able to answer your question.

Hi Hileena,
Fraid I don't know the answer about the tablets. I take tramadol as and when but not the other one. What I do hope is you get a good night. Lack of sleep makes it all feel so much worse. Cris x0 -
HI
Thanks for the replies. Its 6.40am as I type this but i'm getting up early because we have men coming to work on the kitchen today.
Lack of sleep is awful ...yes....last night was no different to other nights but I didnt expect it to be......not after the first dose....will try them again tonight and..... possibly tomorrow night I might see a difference {3rd lot}

Hi hileena
can't answer your question about tramadol and codeine....think this is definitely a question for pharmacy.
so sorry you can't get a decent night sleep; if the tramadol doesn't work then maybe you need something different.
I take amatriptyline 60mg, one tramadol and one paracetamol together and that combination works for me...( combo was prescribed by my consultant).
don't suffer with lack of sleep hileena...not when there are other meds around that could help; so if you don't get relief go back and see the doc.

Thanks Iris, I will go back.....amitryptiline {spelling}??? clashes with my epilepsy tablets...so she told me yesterday. I've had epilepsy since i was 2 yrs old but have been stable for the past 30 years but take medication for it so dont want to rock the boat by taking something that clshes......I'm going over to Northern Ireland on Thursday morning {family} back Tues night so I'll try the tramadol every night from now until getting back then I should have an idea how its working or not working as the case may be LOL

Think Hileena you ahve to check tramadol and co-cos both have sedative effect as does amitrip.
Hope you get sorted

I've checked with the pharmacist.....she says be careful taking them together...they are the same family....which is what i thought.
She also said a couple of codeine while i was on hol along with the tramadol at night would be OK.....I wont be driving while away. She did say take my diclofenic cream with me and use it liberally

.....good to have gotten that advice hileena....especially before you go away.
wouldn't do for any of us to 'mix and match' the meds without seeking prof advice!...
pharmacists are such a mine of information aren't they? glad you've checked this out for yourself.

Hi Hileena, yes you can take co-codomol and tramadol. I currently take co-codomol (30/500) 2 four times a day and tramadol 1 four times a day. I try to restrict the tramadol for when the pain is really bad but always take it at night because it does help me to sleep a bit better. Hope you get your medications sorted and a decent nights sleep soon. I always feel that if you get a decent nights sleep you can cope with the pain a lot better.
