What's your extravagance?

Hi
What do you buy which you don't really need, but can't resist :?:
I love jewellery, and ear-rings are my extravagance. It took me years to pluck up the courage to have my ears pierced, but since then I have bought lots of ear-rings. I really don't need any more, but I am always tempted to look at them in the shops. Then I see a pair which I like, and I can't resist buying them. I enjoy choosing which ones to wear every day, and I wouldn't go out without them.
What's your extravagance :?:

Couldn't agree more, Kath! Gave it all up when my MIL discovered I didn't iron my T towels...........and was horrified. Why iron things which a) aren't seen and b) are going to get crumpled the minute you pick 'em up/lie on 'em/wear them?
Annie
I will keep buying books, though................0 -

Oooh Val, I'm a Bagpuss fan as well.
( Not quite right, but the nearest I could find)
It's a good idea to stay like Peter Pan anyway0 -
Jan and Toni
I agree with you about Egyptian cotton sheets, but I'm with Kath about the ironing.
Annie,
I thought you would say books. Somehow, I never see books as an extravagance, more a necessity
My other extravagance is art materials. There is something irresistible to me about tubes of paint, canvases, sheets of good quality paper etc.0 -
I have a bagpuss collecting friend.....
Annie - BOOKS
I dont think they are an extravegance - they are an absolute necessity

Hi Jan
I'm all in favour of shabby chic :!:0 -

Oh I just love shabby chic
its my fave look.
Could be more the shabby than the chic
in my house though, - only joking I love my home
and I have to say its a tidgy bit designery which I love.
In fact design magazines are one of my extravagances
oh and I cant resist yarn stores, I have to have yarn
in the house that I can pick up and knit or crochet when
I am bored or not feeling well.

Didn't George Best say "I spent 90% of my money on booze and wimmin. The rest I wasted." I love that quote!
My extravagance is SHOES. I love a good pair of shoes - I have them in every shape, size and colour. The brilliant thing about Ellen growing up is that she is now the same size as me and so if we see some shoes in different colours, we get different ones and then swap! My daughters are all shoe mad too. They find nice shoes and come running up to me in shops saying "Mama, look at these shoes, they're FABULOUS!" and we invariably end up buying them.
My husband has about 3 pairs - his work shoes, his trainers and his sandals. And he gave up asking me if a pair of shoes was new about 10 years ago

Clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery, perfume. Can`t pick out one, I`m addicted to aquiring them all.
I agree with everyone about books. To me, they are as important as - probably more than! - food.........Ange.0 -
I'm with Ange on this one.
I shop a lot, bags, shoes, jewelery you name it. The only problem is my habits can be very expensive, like the new bag I have just bought but I class it as investment.
Books are like food a necessity so don't count.

I'm another white bed linen person - can't beat getting into a fresh bed made up with Egyptian white cotton sheets/duvet.. got to be high thread count though ...
oh - and white fluffy towels too (from the same W.... Company)

Hey BC
I too detested sewing at school, think it was the housecraft teacher
that I didnt like, it was a snooty all girl's school. You are now saying to yourselves, why was Kath there then.
When I left school at 15 I got into making my own clothes and in those days it was the 'Dreamboats and Petticoats' era, lots of net petticoats under the dresses and skirts that showed when you were jiving/rock and rolling/bopping. Ah I remember it so well.
White pointy high heel winkle pickers too - ouch, did I really wear them.
Kath x0 -
Kath, you took me right back there girl. Happy, happy days. Trying to sit on the bus, and the hoops going up round the back of your neck!
And as for the four inch stiletto`s. I can remember my Grandad telling me I`d live to regret wearing them, that they would destroy my ankles. Where have I got Arthur?.......Ange.0
