alanmancunian triggered this thought, with his scary film thread. I have never watched a scary film - I am a coward and I do not enjoy the sensation of fear, so I sat and thought about the above. I came up with a shortlist of three and decided upon Sleepless in Seattle. I know the script back to front, I adore the inter-play between the genders (each so neatly summarised) and I just love a Happy Ending. (The others, should you be interested, were Some Like it Hot and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.) DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi DD,

I watched Last Chance Harvey the other week and thoroughly enjoyed it (stars Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson). Also loved Billy Elliott, anything with Timothy Spall and Brenda Blethyn in it and I must admit to enjoying most chick-flicks! Reluctantly sat down to What Happens in Vegas with daughter and surprised myself by enjoying it!

Don't like scary, sci-fi or overly-complicated films. Have also had more than my fill of Pixar movies but the kids are insisting on seeing Shrek 3 and Toy Story in the hols!

I'm afraid all my favourite films are old B/W films. Random Harvest,
Brief Encounter and many more like them.

Some Like It Hot is my all-time favourite film, with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe all at their best.

The Graduate is another one I like.

More recently, I enjoyed Avatar in 3D because I thought it was technically and artistically brilliant.

Avatar I thought was excellent. It was slow to start and keep my attention, but I got into it and enjoyed it. Not a classic though.

Yes, I agree it's not a classic, Ron, but I thought it was very clever. I hadn't seen a 3D film before, and I am a big fan now.

Have you seen Journey to the centre of the Earth in 3D. The new version, it's terrific. There's times you jump out of your seat it's so realistic.

Anything with Robert De Niro in is my favourite film. I even think he looks sexy in Cape Fear (not the ending scenes though!).

I can't name one specific films, I have so many that I love watching again and again.

I don't do scary films either! Anything rated 12 or above gets vetted by hubby first to make sure I can cope (wot a wimp Tilly)

My, definitely not scary top 3 are:

Notting Hill (I know the script of this one backwards DD)
    Devil Wears Prada
    Ladies in Lavender

    The Railway children Quote tonesp

I love that film too. It is a real children's classic, but appeals to adults too. A play of the story is being performed at the disused Eurostar terminal at Waterloo Station, complete with a real train, I believe.

My favourite film of all time is Wuthering Heights, the black and white version with Laurence Olivier. I just love that story, I also love Little Women with Katharine Hepburn in, just a sucker for old black and white movies. I really like the old Ealing comedies as well. I guess I'm showing my age now!!
