Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has ever recieved a letter from pain clinic telling them to expect a phone call from them to do a ''Review telephone consultation'' :? :?It says you will recieve a telephone call to assess your progress on....at....time.
Does this mean they are wondering if i still need to be treated?
Checking to ask why i didnt carry on with the acupuncture? I rang & explain to them why.
Just find it a bit odd & never heard of this before :? :? It says it will be a consultant from pain management :?
thanks in advance, debs

Sorry not heard of that before. Wonder why? Perhaps it is to see if the treatment is helping you?
I really don't know sorry.

I think it means exactly what it says, they want to find out if what they did has helped you at any level, whether you are coping better with the pain or need further help/advice. I don't think it's anything to fret about. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I agree with DD. When they phone just answer their questions, no need to worry.

Reckn it will be like my Doctors latest thing 'phone triage' It's great - saves you going in to see them for things like prescritions and meds reveiws.
Suggest Little Sis that you write a list of what is and isnt working so you are ready for it. Might save you going to see them? Might not

Hi, I've not come across this before. It sounds a good idea, as long as you remember all you have to ask and a notebook is a very good idea! Love Sue0

Hi Debs, isn't funny how we always assume it's something sinister? Says something about our experiences of the NHS doesn't it?
Not sure when it is, but good luck!

Hi Debs,
Sorry I missed this last night  I have follow ups with the pain clinic every 8-10 weeks and maybe its the same as that only on the phone. Mine see's me cus she does the trigger points and well if I didn't have them maybe it would be by phone.
Don't let it worry you but as someone (sorry i forget who) said make a list and see if this time they will come up with something that actually helps you! I get a bit cross they haven't done much to help you yet! Love, a ((( ))) and a omelet. Cris xx0 -
Hi thanks for all you replies & advice.
Its next Thursday & i have to ring them tomorrow anyway As our phone number changes on Monday so i need to let them know.
Ive kept diaries so i'll make up some notes from them over the weekend from the start of changing meds etc since i saw them .That was a long time ago.
I do agree with you cris but something being done is better than nothing being done eh. the Pregabalins are the best thing so far & its took alot of trails of different meds to find the right combo
The rest of treatments im trying to sort out or have sorted myself,I asked Rhymy to refer me to OT at he same time he refered me to pain clinic & im waiting to see my gp as i had to ring OT to ask them to write to my gp to then refer me to physio about the plantar fascitiis in feet.PHEW did you get that :? GP wouldnt refer me without the letter :x Plus weve done alot to the house to make life easier for me.
Had the last of my rails put in today & sink & bath lever taps, now i have them on all,no more struggling with the silly taps & OH put a new chunky loo lever on yesterday for me (the other one fell off really
but we changed it to the chunky as i needed it anyway)
so thats me folksThanks again debs

Hi,
I have follow ups by phone from the Southend on Sea pain clinic, it just enables them to check on how I am doing and how the meds are, I guess it saves making the clionic too packed and two saves you having to attend an appointment just for a meds check!
I have about 4 a year and if needs be I am then given an appointment to go in to see them!
Dont worry!0 -

Hi Tilly,
I think it says something about how we've been treated in the past! Plus 'New' ideas that are supposed to make life easier for everyone includigh us that turn out to be a way of wrapping cost cutting measure s up in pretty paper and fooling us!
Maybe I'm getting psycho!!!!

Hiya,
I started at pain clinic a few months ago and how we feel is monitered by a nurse at the end of the phone , when we report how we are feeling pain wise and side effects she takes notes and informs the specialists, who refer to our notes and then decide when the next face to face appointment will be , it is good to know that there is someone who understands our treatments and who you can ask those questions you forget to ask AT your face to face apponitments , think this might be a way a lot of clinics may be run in the future.
