Lately have been getting sharp twinges in my lower back. It is so sharp I have to stand still and catch my breath and hold my back. I am a sufferer of chronic backache and have generalised arthritis as well. I have stopped taking my cholesterol tablets as advised by my gp and see whether it will improve. I can put up with the pain but this twinges are make it difficult for me to cope. I do not know how to explain it is similar to a spasm or a stitch. Sometimes I wonder where it is going to end. As if I do not have enough on my plate, I have to go for a hysterescopy next week.

    Hi Marie

Those sorts of pains are awful because you dont know when they are coming and sometimes you 'gasp' in pain out in public dont you? You're just NOT expecting them.

Are you wondering if there might be a connection with the gynae issues??

I hope the procedure goes well and they can help you. Think you should mention the new pains to someone??

    Love

Hi Marie, sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Have you mentioned the pains to the GP?

Wishing you a quick recovery from your op, my friend had a hysterectomy about a month before my hip op, first few weeks were tough and then she started to feel so much better, she had lived with gynae problems for years.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hello, I had a hystorectomy about 20 odd years ago, but it does take some getting over. Be careful not to do too much and no lifting. It took me 3 months to get back to work and then about a year before my full energy came back. That sounds a long time but you will feel a bit better each week and when you've fully recovered you won't believe how much better you feel. That was my experience.

If you are getting pains in your back and they don't soon begin to ease of, I think I'd see my doctor, just to make sure everything is OK. It may be a touch of nerve pain comming from your arthritis.

I hope you soon feel better and get some advice if you feel at all worried, its worth it!

    Hi Marie,

I am sorry your having a rough time. I get the twinges (also have a duff back) but mine are quick, painful but then ease off and I think its to do with nerves in my case. If it keeps doing it maybe it would be best to get checked out.

I really hope it goes well for you next week and will be thinking of you. Cris x

    Hi Marie

Sorry you are suffering with these pains. Given that they are new pains and they are severe enough to cause you to have to stop, I think it would be worth mentioning to your GP sooner rather than later. If I am reading your post correctly, this is the reason why your GP advised you to stop your cholesterol tablets but if it's still not any better, your GP does need to know.

Thinking of you - and wishing you good luck for next week.

    Love Tilly x
