    Hi Gemma

Please don't worry about the pain clinic. They are very nice people and will try to help you, where it is.

Take a list of questions you would like answerd eg tell them how much pain you are in. Can you help me with the pain. If you are in a lot of pain tell them. How it stops you from doing things.

They will ask what medication you are taking so take a list or take the meds with you.

They might want to change some of your meds, also does it help the pain. They might decide to change your meds or add something you are not on. Diclofenic is one they may add.

You could be asked if you would like to try some acupuncture to see if some sessions of that might help. They offer some people a chance of trying it say for example once a week for 6 weeks.

The pain Clinic doctors are very nice and will want to help you. Don't forget to take your questions with you and have them written down.

I hope all goes well for you.

I haven't been to a pain clinic myself, but my gran vists one and she raves about them. I also know others who have been refereed for everything from a broken leg to migraines.

Not heard a bad word about them, and everyone has left feeling more optimistic about the options available to them, and that bumping up your current pain medication isn't the only option. Plus they can give you advise/tips on how to lessen the side effects of your current medication.

I hope the Physio does the trick, sounds like its all for the better :-)

    Hi Gemma
I do hope the physio works for you, the pain clinic will offer steroid injections, acupuncture, and also change your medication, pain clinics do vary.
Write down a list of how the pain affects you, and on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad it is, and also what kind of pain, ie sharp, dull, striking down your legs, they call this nerve pain.
I hope this helps a little bit.
You keep us posted and let us know how you get on.

It might help you to keep a little diary from now to when you go. You can then show the Pain Clinic what life is like for you.

You still have time to do a little one just to show how it affects you

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    hi
    physio yesterday -
she was great really listened to me, i have to go back next wed and have been given some exercises to do.
its hard when you are shown how limited the movement on my hip is and how weak it is. also she measured my legs and the right one is shorter by 2 and 1/2 inches! so i think that may mean insteps in my shoes!!! but it has shocked me!! im only 29!!!! but i hope this will help with the pain!
