The stairs are a test to see if youre really disabled I reckon! Trying to catch you out. Glad you phoned for the forms but who gave you the 3rd degree? You are allowed to ask for forms and its none of their business if you qualify or not! And you do qualify so dont listen to them.
Pleased to see you have a few days of rest. Being wiped out is just as bad as the pain sometimes.
Take care, feet up, wish I could make you a cuppa to help.

Hi all, that would be oodles of you again bless you. Elna, Cris, Toni, Elizabeth, Annie, Wonky, Speedy, Rose, Salamander, Jean, Joan, Val, Carol, and DD. Hope I haven't missed anyone :?
Just a quick hello to you all and hope you are all having a goodish weekend if you can.
Toni thanks for the summary there, by heck reading that I did do good didn't I? Yes the thread does sound a bit Blytonesque, can we have a dog too?
Elizabeth do hope your queue is ok when you do find the energy to get to CAB. Hope you feeling a little better. ((( )))
Elna did I thank you for all the ironing ta. Hope you rested after your busy Thursday. I am trying not to take the cocodamol unless really desperate am already knocked out with the AD's. She did offer me something for the possible side effects but I felt the 4 prescriptions was more than enough :? Not sure if I said but I did do the 3 month pre pay script thing so it making all these precriptions less expensive at last thank goodness. Ta to those who suggested it.
Speedy, Val, Carol I was horrified by Job centre it was fortunate I had a pay slip with me else I wouldn't have had my NI number. The CAB have told me to hang on to my current jobs until after any ops if I can cos I have been at both more than 7 years. Really think I will have to look for something less physical after the first THR especially as I will then be gently bullied by the Consultant into having the second one done! so am really only wanting the disability bod to have me on file. Was stunned to be given an appointment so quick. Hope I am not wasting her time. I will let you know what happens Speedy.
Carol I have phoned for the DLA forms so will prob go back to CAB for advise when they come.
Ironic the Council tax form is 9 pages, ye gods and is means tested if you have savings I gather. This won't affect me who has very little but might be of interest to anyone else looking in.
Cris hope you hanging in there, not sure if it is sale day today and tomorrow but hope they are good ones if so. Am lovin these sugar coated hugs.
DD ta for the pm. yes good advise as always thanks. Hope you are coping today?
Feel vaguely human after my much needed duvet day yesterday so apart from a small bit of a shop in a min, I intend to be nice to me today before I get back on the treadmill tomorrow for the next few days.
thanks again to you all for the good wishes. ((( )))

Hi Elizabeth
Only just seen you again there. Yes she was bit aggressive and tactless on the phone. Cos I am still full of cold she started off asking me if I was terminally ill! Then the silly questions. "can I cook a meal"? Yes of course I can, but do I ever have the energy to do it? NO. I live on cereal, sandwiches and pasta most days. I just felt hacked off by her questions. I clearly wouldn't get any care element but feel entitled to some mobility help. We will see. Good luck with yours love.
Am having a goodish day here, sleep restored for the time being and only a gentle stroll required before putting my feet up again. Hope you are feeling a tad better yourself today. (((( ))))

Some of these questions are stupid. Yes, I can cook a meal but I have to do it sitting down as I can't stand still. That's the truthful answer but as I answer 'yes' they won't hold that as a valid application status answer (huh?) ie, they think I can do it so it will count against me. What should happen is this: when someone applies for DLA a person from that department should be allocated as a 'case worker', and they pop in, from time to time, and observe how people manage. Difficult to organise and needs more thinking through but better than a form any day of the week. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Its also a safety issue as pots and pans can be painful to carry. I find I can start a dinner but before long Im in dire pain and need to take a rest. Sitting down to cut veg- yes but once its cooked I cant dish it up!And the will to eat has gone. I leave cooking to the OH- under my instructions.
Terminal illness get a short cut through the system and tick different boxes so thats probably why she was asking. They are kind to the dying as long as they have proof.
Anyway as long as you get the forms thats all that matters. Its what you put on the form that counts now. I have got a book to help too- from the NRAS, I can post it on to you if you want as my claim needs to be done end Sept and I will be finished once seen the CAB.
I am fine now and hope to go to CAB on Tuesday or Thursday but I am not taking my MTX until I have been because that is what made me feel wiped out.
Daughter is coming to stay next week so I am really looking forward to that,

Hello Chris
Have been following your threads and I am so pleased for you that you now have a plan in place (beautifully summarised by Toni).
So well done for tackling things head on when it's so difficult. I'm well impressed and hope that you are still feeling rightly proud of yourself!
Thinking of you.

I know you are on overload with all the different issues you are dealing with but they all sort of go together. be honest- there are many times you cant walk, and many times you struggle to care for yourself, eg;dressing, cooking. So please let everyone know how you feel.
Hope work was okay today and you re not too wiped out and the pain was manageable.

Evening
Sorry bit late catching up today, but just calling in to say hello.
Hi Elizabeth, have a good time with your daughter staying. Do hope you are feeling better there and manage to get to CAB on Tuesday. Do let us know how it goes? You most surely deserve some help there. You are right I have been overwhelmed with all sorts of related and unrelated issues, my sis not good too, so haven't burdened her with any of this, but do feel I am making some progress. Thanks for calling in.
Tilly bless you for those kind words. Hope you are doing OK? Hey Tilly, since I now have Elna doing my ironing could your gardening crew come and tame my teeny but sadly neglected garden. I am fair ashamed of it!! Anyone got a machete?
Toni, work was okish today thanks. Yep a dog called Timmy is a must. Hope all well with you and yours at the mo. I'm guessing it is time for a houseful of girls for a while.
DD thanks for the thoughts, hope you are leaving the flare behind or should that be phlare! So nice to see you and Rob having phun on CC. He really is a funny guy, do wish he would post more. Will try and have a look how everyone doing before I crash here.
Hugs to anyone who passes by. Am gritting me teeth and trying to find some energy for Willy wonkas tomorrow.
take care all

Hi Chris,
Just popped in to tell you I have an appointment for half an hour on 19th August BUT the cab advisor might not turn up! Apparently they go to help out at another local office which is much busier,
I might, if I have the energy, pop down to the other office to see if I can get a more definate appointment. The problem is the other office is much more busy and therefore the queue will be much longer.
I was also given another number for a local agency that come to the house but I am going to check them out first as Ive never heard of them.
Failing that I have my NRAS booklet how to claim disability allowance which makes the questions much clearer and help to answer appropriately. But of course its still mind boggling.
Good luck Chris, I will be thinking of you. Make the most of the time you have got with the various advisors.

Hi Chris
Re your previous post requesting garden assistance, just to let you know that the guys are on their way to you as we speak. You'll have to keep an eye on them to make sure there's no slacking, but I'm sure they will have your garden sorted in no time!
If your jobcentre appt was today, really hope it has gone well.
Thinking of you.
Love Tilly x0 -

Afternoon, Chris!
I thought today was the jobcentre appointment, too. Hope it all went well if that is so.
Iris, you managed to completely sidetrack me.........I found myself staring at a blank screen wondering what on earth I was supposed to be doing, having awoken from a daydream about an old house and some children and Uncle Quentin...............
