disappointing day

HI All,
well I want to write today off (and most of yesterday too  )
Felt rough first thing yesterday but is seemed to be 'just' arthur having his wicked way with my joints again, so had my MTX injection. Felt REALLY rough all the rest of the day, achy & sore with feeling sick thrown in for good measure Hubby sent me off to bed at 8pm.
woke up this morning feeling like I'd been trampled by an elephant during the night  and have felt sick and achy all day - so probably starting a flare up of the RA. WOnderful!
staggered round walk with the dog, then got changed and drove to hospital for my rheumatology nurse appointment, only to get there and find that I didn't have an appointment    no ..... not my mind going but someone had cancelled it and not told me  :x :x
Seems that when they put in the extra rheumy nurse appointment in May, they cancelled this one ...... thanks for telling me.
So ........ no results of the x-rays, no results of the TB blood test - or indeed any idea of when these results may be given to me - and no chance to ask what the situation is with regard to funding for the Infliximab.
I 'may' have an appointment at the end of September, but the new consultant has only just started work, and they are apparently rearranging all his clinics  so I am not certain to get that appointment either Otherwise my next appointment with the rheumy nurse is in February
I wonder ..... why did I bother :? :?

Oh Wonky - what a disappointing day indeed.
Go to bed now and 're-group' tomorrow - you need to be seen by someone in the next 2 weeks (at the longest) ..
Take care

Oh Wonky, that was all you needed - making the effort to go to a non-existant appointment when you were feeling so rough. If it had been the other way round ... you had decided to cancel the appointment and not tell them - it would be a different story. This is not acceptable and certainly too long to be waiting for results. I would get you GP on the case and/or ring up as soon as you get over the flare and keep ringing until they give you an appointment.
Keep resting for now, hope nausea has passed.
SPeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
thanks Marion & Speedy
I may manage to get an appointment with my own GP in the morning, but she only works Friday mornings, so her appointments usually are fully booked before anyone has chance to ring in the morning
When I have worked out what to say I will ring the rheumy nurse helpline and leave a message asking the things I would like answers to ..... more chance of a reply that way I think
Just may not do it tomorrow ....... would rather save my energy for going out with hubby. FIngers crossed I'll manage the meal and theatre ok.
hugs

Thats a good idea Wonky...
Hope you manage to have a nice day tomorrow and enjoy the meal and theatre..

you sound like you need a night out and let your hair down hope it goes well try to relax and enjoy valval0

This is a disgrace Wonks, and you must start the ball rolling for an earlier - DEFINITE - appointment as soon as you feel strong enough.
You are always so meticulous regarding all your appointments, and your medication. It is only right that this attitude is reciprocated.
I so hope that you are feeling well enough to enjoy tomorrow. I wish you an early Happy Anniversary............Much love to you both.......Ange.0 -
Oh, Wonky what a horrid day for you..........gives you such a flat let-down feeling! Apart from having arther with you again, which is enough by itself.
Hope you manage to make it to the meal and theatre and that you are able to enjoy yourself.
Happy Anniversary!

thanks Ange, Val, Annie & Marion
I was so fed up this morning I didn't even go to the shops to get hubby a card but have made him one so I hope he'll appreciate that.
He says we don't have to go out ..... but I WANT to go out ........ somehow it doesn't feel as special if we save it for a 'better' day.
Now I remember why I don't make plans very often these days
I WILL ring the nurses ...... I promise
hugs

Hi Wonky,
I am late and have almost certainly missed you but sorry it was such a bad day and you are starting a flare as well. I really hope you and your hubby have a good day tomorrow and sending healing ((((( ))))) and a bucket of special healing draft as well. Slurps from him and more ((( ))) from me. Love Cris xxx0 -
Hi Wonky,
Sorry to hear about your day, hope tomorrow will be wonderful for you!
You cant wait till feb!!!!!! you really need to get onto your GP to find out your results. You could also try and e-mail the consultant you are under and explain your situation and that you cant wait that long, along with all your symptoms and pain. When i rang consulatants secretary she told me to e-mail, i did and was really suprised to get a phonecall with an appintment for that week!!!! So give it a go you have nothing to lose.
Have a lovely day and you will be pain free thats an order arthur!! hope hes listening!

Hi wonky
I have completely missed the boat , Your bad day was yesterday, How mad you must have been to turn up to your appointment only to be turned away. That once happened to me once at the prosthetic clinic , My hubby took me and had to have time off work, we were both angry.
Hope that you are having a better day today
love julie xx0 -
ooooh :x how frustrating that is.
I hope today gets better Wonky.

I'm really sorry to hear that Wonky
I had been thinking about you and wondering
if you had got the ok for the anti-tnf treatment by now.
Its really shocking the way you have been treat
and to have waited this long already.
This on top of a flare up and feeling poorly too.
You need the infliximab(sp) and PDQ.
Hope you can get sorted really soon.
You need to do some phone calling when you
are up to it.

Oh wonky, how dreadful. Blasted paper pushers on the NHS, useless twonks the majority of them. It's OK for them, they're not ill (I am wand-waving furiously as I type, trying to give them a month-long flare of RA and PA with the bit of OA thrown in for good measure.) I often study the impertinent little list up at rheumatology telling us how manny appointments patients have missed - I would like to do my own little list too - how many the hospital have b*****ed up through the incompetence of their staff. I hope you and your husband have a lovely day today - perhaps something wonderfully unexpected will happen, to compensate for yesterday. Take care. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Oh Wonks
What a shift day it was yesterday
Poor you
Nowt went right did it.
All the hope of at least finding out what is happening dashed and no prospect of finding out in the near future.
Did anyone suggest whether your GP can at least find out about the TB results??
Wonky I hope against hope that you have woken up today a good bit better and that your anniversary is way better than you expceted.
Love and hugs

Hi Wonkey,
Did you get an answer from your Rhemy nurse? That should not have happened. Not to get your results after all this time is so wrong.
Happy Anniversary to you both, did you get out for the promised meal? I know you are having a roller coaster ride at the moment, so sending you lots of hugs.
With love, Ix0 -
Hope you had a lgood day Wonky..

Hi Wonky,
Just checking up on you as well and hope you had a lovely day yesterday. Leaving you a bucket of energy, a healing draft and the honey chew sticks are now recommended by a few They are rabbit sticks so don't tell Little legs Love, slurps and ((( ))) Cris xx0 -
Do kick up a fuss Wonky. When they made the appointment for May and cancelled your August one without telling you they should have set up the next appointment. You should not have to suffer for their mistakes. They have admitted they forgot to tell you about the cancellation. There are unfortunately long delays between appointments at the best of times but I would stand firm and insist they give you an appointment sooner rather then later.
I recently had an appointment cancelled, then another, consultant on holiday they said, and gave me a 10 month gap. I was very angry and insisted on one much earlier, and I got a date on the 2nd cancellation date. Why they cancelled it in the first place I dont know. It was double booked when I got there too but at least I got seen.
Hope you manage to sort,

HI Everyone,
thanks for all the good advice and good wishes.
dont' worry, I certainly will be ringing on Monday, just couldn't face it yesterday. If the September appointment goes ahead then I should get some info .... and I'm going to see my GP and ask her what she has been told. Sadly though, it seems that I will have to wait for the system to process everything .... I have found sometimes that ringing up can delay this process rather than speeding it  but I am not going to just wait this time!
we did go out - I was shattered but we both had a lovely time thanks.
I really appreciate everyone's good wishes, and it helps to know that people are on my side (even if the system isn't  )
(whispers so arthur can't hear) ....not feeling too bad today thanks
hugs
