Afternoon all now what I want is a little bit of advice from you all regarding tents, now I had a modern multi poled hard to put up nylon tent a few years ago and hated it so I sold the bugger, but I did keep all the kit.
Then I had a caravan and used it only a couple of times before I killed it on our driveway after a 150 mile trip, talk about being a right turnip!.
Sorry I digress, now what I am thinking is this, I like camping right!?, it's a lot less of a pain getting to the site and home as caravans are a bit like towing your garden shed, the up side is bad weather isn't such a pain, but modern nylon tents are to complex for me and me knees, now I am looking at canvas bell tents and am wondering if that's the way to go, admittedly they are very easy to put up but are heavy when dry and more so when wet and this could play hell with my knees and neck, that said my wife and daughter would do most the hard work I hope!, that said I still would like some sage feedback from you all.
So what do you think??, have any of you lot ever used/got one, what's the for's and against's of them??.

I loathe camping but modern tents are not that much of a faff mell. Canvas would seem to be a step backwards to me: heavy and dreadfully slow to dry when wet, which, let's face it, they will be most of the time. Get thee down to Milletts and have a butchers: hopefully you will find an assistant who is older than fifteen and does know something about such matters! DDHave you got the despatches? a 3 man pop up tent could be okay- You shake it into shape and then peg it down. Packing it away is a bit more tricky. However they are low down and with your knees I know you would find it difficult.
Take DDs advice and go shopping and tell them all your problems to avoid.I would get one you can stand up in and a mattress is definately needed.
Canvas bell tents are too heavy and a lot of work,

How about a motorhome or campervan. main difference is campervans don't tend to have a loo. there are plenty to look at on EBay to give you an idea of different types available. What type you went for would also depend on how much space you have to park it and if you could keep it and car
Just a thought

Oh, Lynn - it was those little details which put me off camping - once was enough!
