Hi Jenny
Good to see you.
have you thought about asking for a steroid jab for Jordan (one of the ones in your bum that helps all of you)?
I would start at the Gps for a wheelchair as you might need one to keep in the garage for just such situations.....
Places like red cross do loan them, but not sure if you can take them out of the country.
Not cheap to buy :?
When is your hol?
I hope you are all looking forward to it?

Hi Jenny
You can hire wheelchairs from the Red Cross. Who is to know where you take the wheelchair - I definately will not spill the beans! Have a great holiday. It will probably do you all a lot of good.
You could try Freecycle (google it) too if there is one where you live. Items are put on there that people no longer want and are free but sometimes people give a bottle of wine or olive oil!!!! That is what we have received but were not expecting anything. We have got rid of a couple of huge bamboo trees, pond weed and tools in the past. We got an exercise bike 2 years ago which is in daily use still!

If you do hire one it may be worth checking if your household insurance would provide cover should anything ghastly happen to it. I hope you all have a lovely holiday and that the change of scene brings some relief for Jordan and you too - it can make a difference sometimes. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Jenny
So sorry to hear Jordan is having so much pain.. a holiday in Greece sounds absolutely fab so hope you all have a great time...
My local mobility shop hires wheelchairs and various kinds of scooters.. The scooters, eg, vary from about £12.50 to £15 per week - not sure about the wheelchairs.
Please let us know how you get on..
Best wishes

Hi Jenny,
I can only agree with the others suggestions and can't think of any other places you can hire from. I don't know if you would be able to take the chair with or be better hiring one once you get there and maybe the travel people can help with that one?
I am sorry Jordon isn't so good just now and hope he will soon be a bit better again. You all have a good time and nice to see you again. Cris x0 -
Blimey Marion - the scooters are cheap at your mobility shop. They were extortionate at mine!! Luckily found a cheaper company online - but still not as cheap as yours!!
Jordansmum,
Red cross definitely hire out wheelchairs, but if you search online you will find all the options and can compare prices/whether they do childrens etc
Good idea to ask Gp for referral for the future - but it takes months and months... so won't be an option for your holiday/
Hope you have a great time.

hi all thanks for your replies i will phone the red cross tomorrow.we go in three weeks 8) and yes after the year we've had it will be well recieved. We were hoping the mxt would have kicked in abit by now but not yet, still i suppose it is still early day's i will phone the rhummy nurse tomorrow and see if there is anything they can give him before we go .He does suffer when we go out anywhere and it is very hilly where we are going so that will be even more of a strain on him but hey ho we will cope i am sure and jordan is so looking forward to it so hopefully it will keep his mind off it for a bit. Thanks all once again i think this site is fab.

Hi Jordans mum,
Sorry to hear your little one is going through this hell!
It is lovely that you are taking him to Greece. I dont know about the hiring of WChairs, Dont Social Services provide these? What about your travel agent where you booked your hols may be worth enquiring for whats on offer out there.
Did you know you can book a wheelchair at the airport and you will be put on the plane first, save him having the long walks in the airport My Mom had to do this a couple years ago. saves trying to manage steps etc.
Have a lovely time and hope you get sorted soon.

hi rose thanks for the reply have been in touch with the red cross today and fingers crossed they will be able to get one for the dates we want, never thought about all the hassels at the airport ie steps and things  so i will go to the travel agent as soon as i can to see if we can get any help .Oh it's so great having a normal life isn't it with no stress or strains or thinking ahead all the time lol still wouldn't have it any other way0

Hi
Have you tried contacting your Occupation Therapist? I had a 3 month loan of one from The Red Cross (referral form from OT). I think you can hire them too. Check online. Enjoy your holiday!

Hi Jordan'smum.
I am so sorry to hear that the meth hasn't kicked in yet and that Jordan is in so much pain. Really hope that you can hire a wheelchair for him and that you are all able to enjoy a well-deserved holiday in spite of everything.

Hi Jordansmum
I hired one from the red cross when I came out of hospital and was not allowed to but ANY weight on my ankle for a month. One opetion that others have suggested
Your OT??? what about her? if not at least she might be able to point you in the right direction

Hello, I hope that you all have a nice holiday and plenty of dry sun, the humid weather we sometimes get here I find, doesn't help so much. I'm sure Greece will be great!
You can hire wheelchairs from the Red Cross, but I'm not sure if it would be the sort of chair that would be suitable to fly with. It may be worth asking, as they may have experience of this problem and be able to give you good advice. Also the Helpline here may be able to give you some advice. Have a wonderful holiday and I hope Jordan enjoys it! Lots of love Sue0
