Hi everyone
As some of you may know, I started on Humira 2 weeks ago. It was fine apart from stinging like hell! Over the last two weeks, I have and still do, feel better than I have in a very long time. It could be coincidence I know but after that first injection, my pain and swelling is no where near how it was and has been for months and months.
Anyway, it was time for my 2nd injection today and guess what?... I did it all by myself!! I can't tell you what an acheivement that is for me! Happy today xx

Oh I hope so Toni. I keep thinking its too good to be true! xx0 -
Humira worked instantly for me in terms of reducing my inflammation levels - they dropped to single figures and have stayed there, which I guess is a good thing. You have my UNBRIDLED admiration for doing your second one on your own. I have only managed that once, to prove I could do it if necessary. I much prefer having The Husband with me for moral support! You brave girl, well done. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thank you DD, i feel really great and I honestly don't think i'll have a problem doing it next time too. I don't think people who don't have to have this kind of medication actually realise how big a deal it is! xx0 -
There you go Kerry!!!!
there really IS hope
Well done

Hi Kerry
Brilliant news.! I had a taster of self injecting daily for a couple of weeks after an operation and dreaded it. It did get easier but I was happy when that time passed. Lovely to hear your good news that it is working and that you are happy. Long may that last.
Look after yourself,

Humira starting working immediately for me too. When I went to see the nurse follow up appointment she said she'd had one no difference and one worked straight away. Fortunately I was also the latter.
I now do my injections myself unless my hands are hurting. I always use my stomach as I am not brave enough to do my thigh.
Hoping it continues to help( mine has done so for 22 months now),

SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -

Thank you everyone so much - your words are very encouraging - I almost can't wait til the next now so that I can let you know how it is!
I must admit though last night, it got to about 8.30pm and I could hardly keep my eyes open. I think its because I had the Methatrexate on the Monday and then Humira which is still new to my system, yesterday. Feel ok again today though. :? xxxx0 -
I do my humira on Monday nights, then I'm methed by the hospital on Wednesday mornings. If you can, adjust your timings a little so you get a biger break between them - that might help. Also, take your humira out of the fridge for about half an hour before injecting - warming it a little lessens the sting. Have I told you that before? Apologies if that is the case! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

DD - do you find it better to inject just before bedtime? to sleep it off. I cannot do that with the methatrexate because I go to the hosp for that, but the Humira I could. xx0
-
Oh yes. I do mine after I've finished cooking and clearing up, so on Monday that is at about 9.00pm. I take the stuff out at 8.15 to warm up, stab at 9, have a cuppa and some ice cream (as a reward for being a brave girl - any excuse!) then go to bed. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

oh well done you brave girl, sometimes small steps are in fact big jumps0

Good call, think i'll try that - and we do deserve the ice cream for being brave - maybe even Ben and Jerry's cookie dough! xx0
