Hi, I had my first appt with my new consultant this morning, I had to wait 30 mins, but he was very good and through, took loads of blood, and is arranging various things with my gp, and I have to see him in november, he let my hubby stay in the room too, big improvement on my old consultant love Jaspercatxx

That sounds better! I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi, That sounds like a big improvement. Your Hubby should be allowed to stay if you want him to, I don't think it should be up to the doctors, unless their is a medical reason, like my brother, who fainted when his wife had stitches and had to be taken out in a wheel-chair!

Hi. I'm new here, and what I need is a new consultant. Glad your new one is good. mine makes me cry every time I see him just by being rude and horrible and defensive.
I think I might be here a lot over the next while.0 -
Hi Jaspercat,
I am so pleased that you have had a good appointment.
It sounds as if you are going to get the treatment you have waited so long for.
Lets hope you hear something back from them soon.
Fingers crossed for you.

Hello Donnas,
First of all welcome to the forum. I take it you have RA.
So sorry you are having such a bad time with your consultant.
Can you go back to your GP and request a 2nd opinion? I did just that and got sent to a new one without any problems. There is no excuse for them to be rude to you. You have every right to change your consultant. Please keep posting and asking questions. We are all here to help one another. So stop by anytime and join in.

Thanks a lot. I've been going to the same cllinic for over 20 years, with the same consultants there. Some of the registrars and more junior doctors are wonderful, but it's a horrifically busy clinic and the registrar who listened to my concerns some months ago is off on maternity leave. I'd really like to see her when she comes back, so I'm torn.
Going to bed now but will think about it and come back to chat about it another time.
Thank you for responding.0 -
Hi Kim,
Glad it went well and fingers crossed it will be more helpful and consistent than your old one. Leaving a ((( ))) and a hope for you. Love Cris xx
Hi Donnas,
A welcome from me as well and hope you will be able to see the registrar when he comes back but depending on how long they will be it might be better to ask to see some one else? Sometimes its easier to move hospitals I think, we can't here but it sounds better if you can do it. Nice to meet you. Cris x0 -
That sounds positive.
A big improvement.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
So pleased it went well for you Jaspercat this time. Can't believe your other consultant wouldn't let your husband stay with you. Sounds as if this one is much nicer and very thorough. Love Tilly x0

Hi Donna
I have a rheumatology consultant who I dont like, she has an arrogant manner, she looks like she cant be bothered, and it bugs me big time.
I always ask to see the rheumy specialist nurse who I can talk to and get things sorted, much better appointments that way.
Not much fun hating to go to a rheumy appointment is it under those circumstances.
