I managed to get an emergency appointment with Rhummy Consultant today...........much needed
Been struggling bigtime with pain...
Stopping Sulphasalazine..
Starting Leflunomide..
Stopping Ibruprofen..
Starting Celebrex..
Keeping Methotrexate..
Keeping Dihydrocodeine..
Keeping Folic Acid..
Adding Amitriptyline..at nightime..
Got bursistis in both hips, so a jab in each thigh, steriod and local anethetic.
And a depo in my bum
I know lots of people are critical of their Medical team, but for me....
the team I have supporting me are first class...I cannot praise them enough..
All I need is for the medication to start working.......ALL.....HAHAHA
Hope everyone has a peaceful nights sleep...

Oh Rob you poor thing, we never hear you moan, so we know you must have been suffering.
How good that you have such a good team round you, what a difference that must make,my rheumy didn't want to know, and I waited 10 months to see him.
I really hope the new meds start working very soon for you, the amitriptyline is really good at night, but be aware that when you first take it , It can be lunch time when you appear.
But you do get used to it after a couple of weeks.
You let us know how you get on .

Sounds a good plan to me, Rob.
Missed having you around here........although I've been missing myself in fits and starts as I can't seem to keep out of trouble.
I rather think I am going to be praising my new Rheumy.....he's given me the amytrip, too.
Hope it all works for you and you get some much-needed relief.

This sounds more positive. I would like to use CC spelling but won't. Good on yer Rob: it's time to fight back. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

That sounds like a good plan Rob
I have my fingers crossed
that the Leflunomide works for you like it has done for me.
Just be warned that the body can take a while to get used to it .. my first two weeks were awful with tummy upsets etc, but that soon cleared up.
great to know your team are good .... they are not all bad out there

Hi Rob
good to see you and sounds very positive.
Nothing like having a plan to make you feel more in control.
Would you let me know if your bursitis jabs work?? I ahve had two lots (three altogether) and so far no good

Hi Rob
So pleased that you got your emergency appointment and a consultant that listened to you!
If you can just hang on in there to give the new meds chance to work, hopefully you will start to feel much better.
Please do keep us updated on progress.

Island is only big enough for 2.....plus 5 dogs of course......
But they can have a 'day pass'..........

Rob
An excellent plan, yes day passes will suffice for the team. You see you are thinking clearly inspite of it all. Well done you.

Hi Rob
....now that's what I call a rheummy appointment :!:
Wow....great when docs listen and take action.
hope the new meds work wonders and the combo jabs give you some relief. If you take the amatriptyline earlyish (about 8pm) then you don't get the 'hung over' effects trailing on til lunchtime next day.:D

Wow Rob,
that was a productive appointment!!! Blimey!!
Hope the med changes work out for you.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Rob,

I do hope the new meds make all the difference for you.

Hi Rob
I've only just read this, and I do hope your new meds work well for you. I've had the injections for bursitis, and they were a success for me.
Good luck, and all the best

Yesterday was no different to the last few weeks........
Today...................Pain in hips is gone.......well its still there...............but I can't feel it....

Long may it last.
And sleeping for more than 20 minutes at a time........
My GP wants be to have a good check-up before I start on Leflunomide..........Got appointment for Friday 20th....
So........................looking promising.....at present.....
Thanks for support from you all.......
Luv and hugs.............Rob xRob0 -

So pleased to hear that things are starting to improve for you already Rob!. And starting to get some proper sleep will, I'm sure, make the world of difference to you. Fingers crossed that it continues and that you can get started on the Leflunomide sooner rather than later.
