Hello Everybody

Hope you are all having a good day!

I have been suffering terribly for the last fortnight with pain in my lumbar and swelling in my sternum. GP sent me for X-Ray of lumbar; result was negative. Can anyone shed some light on these symptoms please :?:

Many thanks

Whitey :)

Thank you Ailsa. Sorry you are suffering so much at present! You're right, the forum family will look after us. I've had RA for 20 years, stated Methotrexate approx. eight weeks ago... Rheumy convinced symptoms not related to RA. Good luck for your visit to Reumy! Look forward to hearing from you. Take care. Whitey :D XX

Inflammation of the ribcage is known as costochronditis. That could be what is causing your sternum pain. It is a very painful condition.

I hope you feel better soon.

    Hi Whitey

I find sometimes that I get "referred pain" - ie if I am walking badly because my feet and knees are playing up, my hips can really start to hurt too. When it first happened I thought the RA was affecting my hips as well but consultant said not. And he was right. As things got better with feet and knees, hip pain went too.

RA can affect just about anywhere though so the ribcage thing might be connected.

Hope things improve for you soon.

    Thinking of you.
    Love Tilly

    Hello Scattered

    You are spot on!

The pain is sometimes unbearable but it subsides when I increase the dose of Naproxen.
Thank you for giving me a lead & good wishes; I'll let you know how I get on.
